This National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community reflects on our mission to provide shelter for all and our work to prevent and end homelessness. DHCD believes that shelter is a human right. Leaving no one behind applies to a roof over the head of every Marylander. We must identify measurable goals and supporting policies that seek to solve veteran, youth, and chronic homelessness. Today, Chief Administrative Officer Tara Jackson and Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown announced charges against the Heather Hills Apartment complex and its management company for operating without required licenses and failing to address severe housing code violations on their property in Temple Hills. These violations include mold and water damage, pest infestations, fire safety violations, inoperable appliances and maintenance. The health and safety of Prince Georgians is our top priority. Last summer, extreme heatwaves exposed unacceptable HVAC failures in some properties, endangering residents' well-being. ??? Don’t wait until it’s too late!
