Honoring a Giant Among Men: Congressman John Lewis On February 4th, I had the profound privilege of joining the U.S. Capitol Historical Society, alongside my friend Rep. Marlin Stutzman and House Clerk Cheryl Johnson to reflect on the life and legacy of Congressman John Lewis, a man I was honored to serve alongside for a decade in Congress. John Lewis wasn’t just a leader. He was a force of nature; a man whose courage, conviction, and resilience shaped history and shaped me. I often say that knowing him made me a better leader, a better public servant, and, most importantly, a better person. John challenged all of us to see the bigger picture, to act with dignity in adversity, and to always remember that our fellow Americans are not our enemies. Lessons I carry with me from John Lewis: ?? Stand firm in your beliefs, but always seek common ground. ?? Be fearless in the fight for justice, but never lose your dignity. ?? Lead with action, not just words. Even in moments of deep division, John Lewis never wavered in his belief that America was worth fighting for—that our democracy, though imperfect, could always be made stronger. I encourage everyone to reflect on his life, his mission, and his unwavering belief in the power of good trouble. It was an honor to participate in this conversation, and I hope you’ll take a moment to watch the panel discussion here: ?? https://lnkd.in/g4HV5Ytu #JohnLewis #Leadership #GoodTrouble #Resilience #Legacy #USCapitolHistoricalSociety
