  • Customer Advisory Nov 21, 2024 Important Update on ILA Negotiations and Potential Impact on Ports and Operations Dear Valued Partners & Clients, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to bring to your attention critical developments regarding the ongoing labor negotiations between the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), which may significantly impact our operations in the coming months. As you may recall, the October 2024 strike caused a three-day closure of East and Gulf Coast ports, resulting in significant disruptions, including delays, diversions, and additional charges. The strike's impact was widespread, affecting key ports and causing disruptions to both U.S. and international supply chains, with an estimated cost of $5 billion per day to the U.S. economy. While the initial strike action has been temporarily suspended, a critical deadline looms. As of November 14, 2024, ILA President Harold Daggett has indicated that if an agreement is not reached by January 15, 2025, the union may strike again, this time over disputes regarding port automation. The potential strike could affect ports from Maine to Texas along the East and Gulf Coasts, including major ports such as Charleston, Houston, Miami, New Jersey, New York, and Savannah. In addition to the ongoing labor dispute, please be aware that the upcoming holiday season will contribute to congestion at U.S. ports. The following holidays will result in closures and further strain on capacity: Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, November 28 Christmas Day: Wednesday, December 25 New Year’s Day: Monday, January 1 Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Monday, January 15 As we approach these busy periods, it is essential to stay informed about the ongoing negotiations and the possibility of future strikes. Should the ILA proceed with further strike action, container operations at the affected ports will be disrupted, leading to potential delays, increased costs, and a backlog of goods in transit. We strongly advise that your teams and partners stay in close communication and closely monitor updates regarding port closures, strike announcements, and any related contingency plans. As always, proactive planning will be crucial to minimizing operational impacts. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated with any new developments. Should you have any questions or require assistance in preparing for potential disruptions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Thank you for your continued trust in Prime Log Solutions Corp. Sincerely, Prime Log Solutions Corp. Your Global Logistics Partner
