Contrary to popular belief, a co-founder isn’t a prerequisite. You can bring one on at any stage. Ben Horowitz once described Marc Andreessen as the innovator and himself as the entrepreneur. That balance, as he described it, is key. Don’t wait for the “ideal” co-founder. You’ll find the right person by rolling up your sleeves and getting to work. Focus on building a business with someone who’s truly invested from the start. As Alexander Jekowsky, CEO of Cents, puts it, when you're in the trenches and doing whatever it takes, others will notice and want to join forces.

Yesterday I was able to attend the NYC Summit hosted by Primary Venture Partners! I have condensed my reflections from the experience and key takeaways from my conversations with startup founders and investors from a healthcare lens. As I learn more about the VC and startup world as a med student, I wish I had a resource to learn basic principles and new concepts. These notes aim to do just that! Read here:

Great news: IRL events are back in full swing. #nycsummit hosted by Primary Venture Partners buzzed with renewed energy for in person networking and connecting. I attended along with speaker and client, Angela Strange of Andreessen Horowitz. She talked about the state of fintech, which is headed into a time of growth. Here are a few nuggets from her: Saying fintech is dead is taking too shortsighted a view. Fintech is at a new beginning– no one can argue we are at the start of a new product cycle Smart entrepreneurs have started huge new companies at the start of new product cycles so we’ll see growth and opportunity here in the next few years Ultimately every company is actually a fintech company

In our final session at #NYCSummit, Brad Svrluga hosted a fireside chat with Nate Silver, statistician and best-selling author of "On the Edge: The Art of Risking Everything."

Wrapping up a powerful discussion moderated by Lisa Lewin at #NYCSummit! Daniella Ballou-Aares of Leadership Now Project, Eric Newcomer of Newcomer, and Shomik Dutta of Overture explored politics in the venture ecosystem.
