While we’ve been shining the spotlight on #NationalCaregiverMonth, let’s not forget it’s also #NationalAlzheimersAwarenessMonth! ?Here’s a fun fact: Teal is the official Alzheimer’s Awareness color of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) because according to color psychology, teal creates a sense of calm and comfort. This makes it a perfect color to use when designing spaces or events for people living with Alzheimer’s to feel both safe and welcome. ??So, the next time you spot someone rocking teal, take a moment to reflect on the 6+ million people living with the disease—and the support they and their caregivers need. Every little action makes a difference. Helping our communities coordinate better care by engaging families with their health data via the 21st Century Cures Act’s patient access ? Advocate for family caregivers ? Nurse Entrepreneur ? CEO of Primary Record
I am wired to help. So, when I needed to begin "selling" Primary Record, I faced many challenges. I've never considered myself a salesperson—hats off to everyone who makes a career of it!? Reading April Dunford's *Sales Pitch: How to Craft a Story to Standout and Win* was a lightbulb moment.?? It showed me that I don’t have to sell the way I’ve heard sales pitches in the past. Instead, I can lean into what I care about: helping others learn and make the best decision for them.? Healthcare is one of the toughest industries to drive change in. As #administrators, #nurses, #advocates or #doctors, I know how overwhelmed you all are! Staying the same always feels safer than risking a transition to something new.? When I spent six years coordinating care for families navigating dementia, I experienced firsthand the day-to-day grind of communicating and relaying information to ensure clients got the best care. It often meant endless phone tag, chasing down faxes, and advocating against siloed systems that didn’t talk to each other. Even when I brought in more amazing nurses, the tools I gave them seemed to create more work, not less.? That experience sparked the vision for what we’re building at Primary Record. I’ve spent the past 10 years on a journey to redefine care coordination, and what excites me most is the opportunity to go beyond just the patient, engaging their family alongside their care teams, who help with many of the jobs that need to get done! When we center the experience around the patient and their family, we move beyond creating just another siloed piece of tech. Instead, we build tools that empower families to manage the chaos of information thrown at them and seamlessly share it in real time with their care team. It’s about working smarter, not harder—by leveraging the most underutilized resource in healthcare: family and community. If what you’re using today looks like a mix of paper forms, Microsoft OneNote, Excel sheets, and Google Drives—or if the tech you’ve tried feels like overkill (EHRs or CRMs that need constant updating)—then let’s talk. I’m motivated daily to help amazing community businesses and find ways our team can invest in your growth. I'd love to learn about the challenges you see in coordinating care and how we can help. ??
