?? Honoring Transgender Day of Remembrance: A Call to Remember, Honor, and Act ??? Today, we come together as a community to commemorate Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) — a day to honor the lives of transgender individuals lost to violence and discrimination, and to renew our commitment to building a world where everyone can live authentically and without fear. We at Pridelines stand in solidarity with the transgender community, amplifying voices and stories, and pledging our continued support through our programs and services. Special recognition to Transinclusive Group for their tireless advocacy and dedication to uplifting the trans and gender non-conforming community. Their Trans Day of Remembrance event taking place today offers a moment to grieve, reflect, and celebrate the lives of those we have lost. We encourage everyone to join this powerful gathering to show love and solidarity. We are also proud to highlight the The McKenzie Project, Inc, Pridelines' initiative to provide critical support and emergency housing for trans women in Miami-Dade County. This project stands as a testament to our commitment to creating a safer, more inclusive space where transgender individuals can thrive. Let us remember that while we honor the lives lost, this day is also a call to action. We must continue to advocate for equality, fight for justice, and amplify the voices of our trans siblings every single day. Together, we can build a world where no one has to fear for being who they are. Join us in reflection, support, and action. ?????????? #TDOR #TransDayOfRemembrance #TransRightsAreHumanRights #Pridelines #TransinclusiveGroup #McKenzieProject
关于我们
MISSION To support, educate and empower South Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth and the community at large in safe and diverse environments through affirming programs and services to promote dialogue, wellness and foster social change. HISTORY Pridelines is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded by gay and bisexual youth for LGBTQ youth and their allies in the wake of Anita Bryant’s “Save Our Children” campaign. Rooted in a peer-led/adult-facilitated youth group model, and with the help of Dr Marilyn Volker, Peter Meyer and other concerned adults, the group began meeting at Miami-Dade College in 1982. In 1999, under the leadership of group member Dale Ayres, the group incorporated, moved into its own space and changed its name to Pridelines Youth Services. Fundraising efforts quickly increased, Health Department contracts soon followed and programs grew contributing the growth of Pridelines Youth Services. Pridelines was one of the first community-based HIV testing sites in Miami-Dade County. More than 40 years later, Pridelines continues to provide safe space, social support, skills building, leadership development and referrals to mental health, health care and support services for LGBTQ youth and their straight allies throughout South Florida. Today, the agency has grown and matured just like our youth. In 2015, Pridelines Youth Services shortened its name to Pridelines, reflecting our desire to support the lives of all members of South Florida’s LGBTQ community. We will continue to ensure that our LGBTQ youth have the support they need, while also committing to doing so throughout their lifetime. As we grow, Pridelines will expand programs and services for adults and families to provide life-long support for our community.

Reposting to honor all veterans today, especially those who have faced discrimination within the military yet served with resilience and dedication. As Edward Summers, Ph.D. reflects, his grandfather Edward Summers, Sr. served in the Navy during a segregated era, a time when Black servicemembers confronted both external and internal challenges. Yet, their impact was undeniable, paving the way for greater inclusion and breaking countless barriers. Similarly, LGBTQ+ veterans have bravely served while often facing their own set of unique obstacles. Since the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in 2011, they can serve openly with pride, reinforcing the importance of authenticity and inclusivity in our armed forces. At Pridelines, we’re inspired by this legacy and committed to advocating for the support and recognition of all veterans, especially those from marginalized backgrounds. Let’s honor them by offering gratitude, advocacy, and resources to ensure every veteran feels valued for their service and identity. Thank you to all veterans for your courage and contributions. #VeteransDay #HonoringService #Inclusion

In honor of Veterans Day, Pridelines proudly recognizes the legacy of bravery, resilience, and commitment among those who have served. Today, I reflect on the life of my grandfather, Edward Summers, Sr., who served in the Navy during an era when racial segregation and discrimination marked every aspect of military life. Despite facing systemic inequality, he and countless others demonstrated extraordinary dedication. Their sacrifices protected our nation and helped pave the way toward a more inclusive military. While Black servicemembers endured unjust treatment, they contributed with valor and excellence. Over one million Black men and women served in WWII alone, with heroes like the Tuskegee Airmen and the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion becoming legendary examples of courage. This legacy extends to LGBTQ+ service members who have faced their own challenges. The repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in 2011 was a pivotal step, allowing LGBTQ+ individuals to serve openly and with pride. As we honor all veterans, Pridelines acknowledges the intersection of race, sexuality, and service. We stand inspired by the courage it takes to serve while facing discrimination. Today, let’s commit to supporting our LGBTQ+ and minority veterans in every way possible. Join us in extending gratitude, advocacy, and resources, ensuring our veterans feel valued not only for their service but also for who they are. To every veteran, thank you. Your courage uplifts us all.

A message from our leader Edward Summers, Ph.D.
CEO & Executive Director @ Pridelines | Mental Health Counselor | Social Justice Soldier | LGBTQAI+ & Racial Equity Fighter | Educator | Author | Entrepreneur | Public Policy Expert | Higher Edu & Nonprofit Consultant |
Today, my tears are real. My fears are real. My disdain for half of this country feels overwhelming. I’m in disbelief that so many would choose a leader whose actions and words embody cruelty—a man who has shown himself to be a felon, a misogynist, a racist, a homophobe. The message this sends to generations to come is devastating: that people like us, our voices, our rights, our very lives don’t matter. It feels as if the mob has won, and we’re left wondering—where do we go from here? How do we move this country forward in the face of such vitriol? How do we find a path when so much of what we hold dear is under threat? And yet, as heavy as it feels, I know we cannot stop. We cannot allow despair to overshadow the light of hope we’ve carried so far. Now, more than ever, we must look to the legacy of those who came before us—the giants of the civil rights and gay rights movements, who fought through struggle, oppression, and heartbreak. This is our moment to rise up, to honor their sacrifices and continue the fight. We are the torchbearers now, and though our hearts are breaking, our purpose has never been clearer. We must lean on one another, strengthen our bonds, and forge ahead with resilience and love as our guide. We have to be the change, the force that keeps pushing forward, no matter how dark the days may seem. Let this be our call to action. Let’s stand together, uplift each other, and refuse to back down. This is not just about politics; it’s about the soul of our nation and the future we want to create. The fight is not over. Together, we will rise. ??

As America stands on the brink of another pivotal election, the choices we face transcend mere party lines or ideological divides. This election is not about Democrat versus Republican. Instead, it is a battle for the preservation of democracy, the rule of law, and, most critically, human decency. This is a fight for who we are, who we strive to become, and what values we choose to uphold. This moment demands that we reconnect with our shared legacy of resilience, justice, and an audacious belief in human dignity. We need, now more than ever, to remember the words of the late Congressman John Lewis, “do good” and seek out "good trouble" — to fight not for self but for humanity. And so, we must answer his call. This election asks us to choose a future where women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, respect for our military, and the full recognition of Puerto Rico as America are not only upheld but celebrated. President Abraham Lincoln warned us, “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” At a time when we are meant to strengthen our unity, we find ourselves divided, driven not by principle but by the forces of demagoguery and deceit. More than a former president, Donald Trump has become emblematic of this threat to human decency, undermining empathy, respect, and justice — all the principles that bind us together. Yet, as Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” The words of Cesar Chavez echo this call for justice, for unyielding solidarity with those on the margins. Our commitment to democracy requires more than mere rhetoric; it demands that we recognize the humanity and dignity in each person, standing up for rights that benefit all, not just a select few. We cannot allow ourselves to be torn apart by forces that reject inclusion and civility. This election requires that we rise to honor the sacrifices of those who fought before us — and to build a better world for those who will come after. We must remember, too, the courage of Marsha P. Johnson, whose voice, like so many marginalized voices, paved the way for LGBTQ+ rights. Her fight was one of survival, dignity, and the audacious belief that justice and equality belong to all. As Desmond Tutu said, “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” There is no room for neutrality now. We must stand together — each of us, regardless of race, gender, orientation, or status — to protect the values that make us American. This is our moment. When darkness tempts us to turn away, let us summon that spirit of resilience that has always carried us forward — the spirit of “Yes, we can,” and “Yes, we will.” America, let’s make our choice clear: we stand for democracy, respect, and hope. And together, we will preserve the republic.

As we begin Trans Awareness Month, it’s a time to honor and celebrate the resilience, diversity, and contributions of transgender individuals, while acknowledging the unique challenges faced by the trans community. This month is not only about raising awareness; it’s a call to action for deeper understanding, advocacy, and unwavering allyship. In this spirit, I’d like to spotlight two incredible organizations that are transforming lives and redefining what support for trans individuals looks like: Transinclusive Group and @The McKenzie Project. Both are tirelessly pushing boundaries to address the urgent needs of the transgender community, from housing and healthcare to emotional support and advocacy. Transinclusive Group continues to lead the charge by providing safe spaces, essential services, and unwavering support to trans and gender-nonconforming individuals. Through their work, they empower people to live authentically and access resources that affirm their identity. Their commitment to amplifying voices, advocating for policy change, and cultivating a community where every person can thrive is truly inspiring. The McKenzie Project, Pridelines’ pioneering initiative, is Miami-Dade’s first emergency supportive housing program specifically for trans women. This trailblazing project is addressing the stark housing insecurity many trans women face, providing a safe haven that fosters stability, growth, and empowerment. The McKenzie Project is setting a new standard for inclusive housing and support systems, and it is helping transform our community into a place of acceptance and opportunity. Let’s use this month as a springboard for action—educating ourselves, standing with our trans siblings, and supporting organizations like Transinclusive Group and The McKenzie Project that are building a better, more inclusive world for everyone. The future of equality is here; it’s up to us to champion and sustain it. #TransAwarenessMonth #TransRights #Transinclusive #McKenzieProject #Transgender

Today on National Immigrants Day, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of immigrant communities to the fabric of our society—and especially to the LGBTQ+ community. For countless LGBTQ+ immigrants, the journey to self-acceptance and authenticity is intertwined with the journey to a new country. Many arrive seeking a place to live freely and fully, hoping to escape discrimination, find safety, and build a brighter future. However, the challenges they face—navigating complex immigration systems, language barriers, cultural adjustments, and discrimination—are often magnified by the intersections of identity and the unique barriers LGBTQ+ individuals encounter. At Pridelines, we understand the courage it takes to rebuild and reclaim one’s life in a new environment. That’s why we’re committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive space where LGBTQ+ immigrants can find the resources, community, and support they need. Through programs addressing mental health, housing, health care, and youth empowerment, we aim to uplift and empower immigrants who are vital to the resilience and richness of the LGBTQ+ community in Miami and beyond. This National Immigrants Day, let’s recognize the contributions and strengths immigrants bring to every aspect of society. Together, we can work toward a world where every LGBTQ+ person, regardless of where they were born, is welcomed, valued, and empowered to thrive. Let’s continue building bridges, embracing diversity, and ensuring every voice is heard. #NationalImmigrantsDay #LGBTQImmigrants #CommunityBuilding #InclusionMatters #Pridelines #StrongerTogether #CelebrateDiversity

On Intersex Awareness Day, Pridelines stands in solidarity with the intersex community, recognizing the unique experiences, challenges, and resilience that shape the lives of intersex individuals worldwide. Intersex Awareness Day, observed every October 26, shines a light on the importance of visibility, education, and advocacy to dismantle the stigma surrounding intersex identities and to promote acceptance and understanding. Intersex individuals are born with physical sex characteristics that do not fit typical definitions of male or female. Despite the fact that intersex people make up nearly 1.7% of the global population, many face misunderstandings, invasive medical practices, and societal pressure to conform to binary gender norms. This day calls on us to honor their experiences, amplify their voices, and educate our communities to foster a more inclusive and equitable society. At Pridelines, we are committed to creating safe, affirming spaces where intersex individuals can find community, resources, and support. Today, we celebrate the diversity of human bodies and identities and advocate for intersex rights, which include the right to bodily autonomy and the freedom to define one’s own identity. We invite you to join us in recognizing the beauty and diversity of intersex identities. By educating ourselves, advocating for inclusive policies, and creating supportive environments, we can ensure that everyone—no matter their biological traits—has the freedom to live authentically and thrive. To learn more or connect with resources, please visit our centers or reach out for support. Together, let’s champion a world where intersex people are seen, respected, and celebrated every day. #IntersexAwarenessDay #CelebrateDiversity #Pridelines
