Ever had a potentially groundbreaking idea, but weren’t sure how to bring it to life? That’s where we came in for Lutz Lüdtke when he was starting his company Keep Vision GmbH to experiment with new ways of visualizing data, on a quest to help companies find what they need more quickly in their file storage. As a startup founder, he was looking to explore this concept and try it out with clients. With the?Data City, we adopted a collaborative approach and turned his concept into an interactive 3D tool. Curious? Watch the video for a quick look, then visit the post that just went live on our blog about the project for more (https://lnkd.in/enraS3iu). Have a project in mind? Reach out via the contact form on our website—let’s prototype together!

Check out this exclusive video footage from?Year of the Cicadas, a project developed for the XR Pediatrics lab at Yale University — not publicly shared before outside of select conferences! ?? We're currently working on the third iteration of?Year of the Cicadas, a project built in Unity (supported by Unity for Humanity) for Meta Quest 2 and 3. ?? This emotionally powerful game, exploring grief over a 17 year period between cicada emergences, continues to evolve through our iterative prototyping process. ?? The video footage shared in Dr. Kimberly Hieftje,’s post gives a unique behind-the-scenes look at this ongoing project. Stay tuned for more exclusive footage, and follow PreviewLabs for the latest updates!
Year of the Cicadas is coming along, though we are taking our time on it to get it right. Here is an early prototype of a scene at the entry to the graveyard. We wanted to set the story up by introducing the player to the 17-year, Brood X cicadas while while listening to a brief "radio interview" with one of the world's leading expert on periodical cicadas, Dr. Gene Kritsky. The radio also helped us to place the player in the Spring of 2004, in Bloomington, IN. The radio (strapped to the bike) also allows us to bring in some of my daughter's music - a sweet, sad song called "Bluebird" that was so fitting for this game. Because many of the audio files for the game are raw and gritty, having them play from the radio allows us to do a lot with the layering of high-quality audio (i.e. the ambisonic audio of the cicadas and Andrew Schartmann's original musical pieces) with lower quality audio coming from the radio (i.e. Bree's music recorded on her iPhone, raw audio files of interviews). This project is hard (personally) but so very therapeutic as well. I really hope to have this completed this year, exactly 20 years after Cody's death. Melanie (Melle) Bartl is to thank for the absolutely beautiful artwork, Andrew Schartmann is our brilliant audio designer, and of course, the amazing PreviewLabs is developing the game! Asher Marks, MD is co-producing it with me and keeping me grounded when the emotions start to take over. Unity (Unity for Humanity) is helping to support this project! Stay tuned for the next iteration! We plan to add in more player interactions and haptics (having the player "feel" the cicada land on their hand).

Many successful projects benefit from a team that listens, guides, and refines the concept through iterative prototyping. Bernard’s time in Belgium is all about connecting with forward-thinking professionals and discussing innovative approaches in game tech. At PreviewLabs, we’re ready to help your ideas take flight. ???Understanding?your unique challenges and needs. ????Guiding?you through technical complexities and gameplay/usability challenges. ???Using iterative prototyping to turn your ideas into reality. With Rosario Daratenas, Jarne Beaufays, steven V., Lorenz Delcol, and Xavier Lederer in pics of previous trips.
Thrilled to be back in Belgium and here until September 9th! It’s always a pleasure to connect with innovative minds, and I’m looking forward to new conversations around game tech projects. If you’re kicking off something exciting or tackling a challenging technical problem, I’m open for meetings. Sharing some snapshots from this and previous trips—enjoying the local food, beers, and great company. Let’s explore what we can achieve together!

Earlier this week, we had the privilege of being Silicon Harlem's guest and delivering an interactive session for an audience of teenagers eager to learn about technology and entrepreneurship, and in doing so, helping advance Silicon Harlem's mission to transform Harlem into a tech and innovation hub. Eric Cunningham, a seasoned startup mentor, received and introduced the speakers, setting the stage for an inspiring event. PreviewLabs' founder Bernard Fran?ois spoke about his own teenage years discovering game programming and the choices made that helped him launch his career in the game industry and start PreviewLabs in 2010. Abigail Crocker, a Yale graduate student at the Yale School of Nursing and collaborator at Yale XR Pediatrics, discussed the "Cutie" project with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, designed to help parents of premature infants navigate the NICU experience, a collaboration with PreviewLabs. Mona Sinha, postgraduate associate at Yale XR Pediatrics, who started her first company at 16 and has previously run a business managing the personal social media of A-list celebrities, inspired everyone with her talk on pitch decks and visual design. A highlight was seeing the teenagers dive into VR experiences with Meta Quest headsets, giving them firsthand experience with the technology. They then worked on pitch decks for their concepts, guided by what they had learned earlier in the day. Huge thanks to Clayton Banks for this opportunity, and to Kimberly Hieftje, and Asher Marks, to have us steal two of their talented team members for the day. At PreviewLabs, our passion for prototyping goes hand in hand with supporting startup ecosystems. If you need speakers for your event or want to inspire future tech leaders, reach out to us!

Anarchitects, a new VR game by Squido Studio, launched for Meta Quest devices over two weeks ago... ??It is already rated 4.8/5 based on 300 reviews! ?? The game features advanced collaborative multiplayer physics—a challenging feat. ??We at PreviewLabs were thrilled to help by developing the technical proof of concept. ?? This aided Squido Studio in raising CAD 1.5M to develop the game. Witnessing Anarchitects' early success has been truly rewarding!
