In August, Preventive Measures was honored to sponsor the annual KNT Basketball Tournament in memory of Kobee Nyro Texter. Today, we’re sharing a message from our CEO, Dwayne L. Jones, who reflects on his personal connection to Kobee from his days as a barber. Dwayne’s words remind us how deeply suicide can impact each of us and why initiatives like this are so important for our communities. We’re proud to support events that bring people together for mental health awareness and suicide prevention, and we look forward to joining KNT again as a Gold Sponsor for their Skills & Drills Basketball Camp on November 9th at William Allen High School. Together, let’s continue raising awareness and investing in the mental well-being of young athletes. A special thanks to KNT founder Andrew Atiyeh for his dedication to carrying on Kobee’s legacy and for creating impactful spaces for mental health conversations through sports. #MentalHealthMatters #SuicidePrevention #CommunitySupport #PreventiveMeasures #KNT

It’s a new week, a new month, and a time to reconnect. November is Native American Heritage Month, and as always, we’re starting each Monday by honoring the legacy of a Native American innovator, activist, or entertainer. This week we're offering inspiration from poet, musician, playwright, and author Joy Harjo. Let’s focus on the power of connection—to each other, to nature, and to ourselves. This month, let’s carry her wisdom with us: we all thrive when we embrace kindness, community, and care. #MotivationMonday?#NativeAmericanHeritageMonth?#JoyHarjo?#MentalWellness

On World Mental Health Day, Dwayne L. Jones paid a special visit to students at Executive Education Academy who are part of the Queen of the Court basketball program. This after-school program, designed for girls in grades 6-12, goes beyond basketball by teaching essential life skills like teamwork, confidence, and empowerment. It provides a supportive space where young athletes can grow both personally and on the court. During his visit, Dwayne spoke about the importance of prioritizing mental health and taking time to focus on self-care. His message reminded students that looking after themselves is just as important as their physical performance. A heartfelt thank you to Queen of the Court for inviting us and for all the incredible work you do in the community! #MentalHealthMatters #WorldMentalHealthDay #YouthEmpowerment #QueenOfTheCourt #GirlsInSports #MindfulnessMatters
