Day 3 marked the finale of our Menstrual Health Outreach Initiative at Government Junior Secondary School, Durumi, Abuja! ???? The girls were engaged in insightful discussions on menstruation, menstrual cycles, and the importance of menstrual health and hygiene. The interactive nature of the session allowed for open dialogue and the sharing of knowledge, empowering the girls with the information they need to navigate this crucial aspect of their health confidently. Following the educational talk, our facilitator led a hands-on demonstration on the proper use and disposal of sanitary pads, ensuring that each student had a clear understanding. We also distributed period kits containing sanitary pads, and sanitary items to ensure the girls are well-equipped to maintain good menstrual hygiene. Day 2 of our Menstrual Hygiene Campaign was nothing short of impactful! ??? We doubled our efforts, reaching out to even more communities in Abuja to spread vital menstrual health education. Our team visited the resilient students at Government Secondary School (GSS) Apo and engaged with six communities in Kabusa, ensuring no one is left behind in our mission for menstrual equity. At Government Secondary School Apo, we were met with eager minds and open hearts, as both boys and girls actively engaged in discussions on menstrual health and hygiene. It was heartwarming to witness the collective commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for menstruating individuals. Our sessions, led by passionate educators, were filled with insightful exchanges, empowering both students and educators alike. In Kabusa, our outreach extended beyond the school walls, reaching into the heart of the community. We conducted sensitization sessions that not only educated but also inspired action. Our Facilitator’s captivating session on breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation left a lasting impact, fostering a sense of unity and purpose among participants. As conversations flowed and questions were answered, it became evident that together, we can dismantle barriers and pave the way for a period-friendly world. Period kits containing sanitary pads, and sanitary items were distributed during the community and school outreach to promote good menstrual hygiene. In commemoration of the 2024 World Menstrual Hygiene Day, PDF-Africa embarked on a three-day outreach initiative. On Day 1, we visited Government Junior Secondary School, Gbessa, where our team, along with our partners from Give Girls A Chance, engaged with the students through educational and practical sessions on menstrual health and hygiene. We started with an insightful menstrual health talk where the girls were educated on understanding their menstrual cycle, maintaining hygiene, and dispelling common myths. This was followed by a practical demonstration on the proper use and disposal of sanitary pads, emphasizing the importance of regular changes and proper hygiene practices. The students actively participated in a Q&A session, where their questions were addressed by our knowledgeable team members. We also distributed period kits containing sanitary pads, and sanitary items to ensure the girls are well-equipped to maintain good menstrual hygiene.
