Press Glass is proud to announce receiving the Guardian Glass Commercial Project Award for 66 Galen Street in Lexington, MA. 66 Galen is a unique building in aesthetics and glass composition. The architectural design incorporates artistic liberties to mimic the bordering river. The glass composition consists of ?Guardian SunGuard? SuperNeutral? 68 and SNR 50 and IS 20 on clear glass. Giving the building a unique look on either side to fit into the landscape. The SN68 side faces the street and gives a clean modern look while the IS 20 and SNR50 side faces the river giving a blue reflective look matching the natural environment below. These employees are the experts behind the cutting table operations. They are responsible for operating the machine's tools to create the perfect break, ensuring the correct glass is receiving the right processing, and meeting the company standards. It is with expertise and skill that this team works together to perform this crucial step, setting the glass up for success as it flows through fabrication. NC Department of Agriculture aka the Steve Troxler Agricultural Sciences Center is a building with a very important purpose. This lab building is occupied by the USDA where they work to ensure food consumer health for humans and animals. The Steve Troxler building is enclosed with 31,500 square feet of Press Glass product, consisting of a variety of 1" IGUs. Some with charcoal gray spandrel and some fully tempered units all to ensure privacy and safety where it is needed most! Ever wondered how custom glass for commercial projects begins its journey? It all starts with a highly specialized, automated process that ensures precision, consistency, and efficiency. ?? Cutting: The first step in the process is cutting. It is during this step that the machine scores the glass to create precise break lines. Automated scoring allows for clean, accurate glass separation by the cutting table operators. This high level of automation minimizes errors, enhances quality, and optimizes efficiency. ?? Marking: The next step in the process is logo application. The logo is applied to the glass by a high-resolution laser. The logo is confirmation of which type of fabrication process the glass will undergo. The type of logo indicates that the?glass will be fully tempered or laminated glass which is considered safety glass, or it could indicate heat strengthened glass. ?? Edge Deletion: The last and most critical step for all low-e glass is edge deletion. Edge deletion removes a thin layer of coating along the perimeter. This step is done to prevent the silver layers of the low-e coating from touching the silicon seal - which would cause corrosion. An added benefit of edge deletion is the surface where the coating was removed promotes a stronger seal when applying interlayers or adhesives. By automating these essential steps, we deliver superior precision and reliability, ensuring that each sheet of glass is effectively prepped for heat treating, laminating, or further customization. Located right on the waterfront, this 34-story high rise boasts 575 residential units and unparalleled views of the city and water. ??? Press Glass' contribution? Approximately 70,000 square feet of 1 and 7/8" insulated glass units, elevating both design and performance of the building. A portion of the project underwent heat soak testing, a specialized quality assurance process.
