"One of the most valuable lessons I took from the Presidential Leadership Scholars Program was the power of building bridges across diverse perspectives, particularly across party lines," said 2024 #PLScholar Keely Cat-Wells. "I’ve put this into practice by actively engaging with government leaders, corporate executives, and community advocates to understand different viewpoints. This has enabled me to build coalitions, secure buy-in from unexpected yet influential decision-makers, and drive initiatives forward at an accelerated pace." Last month, the 57 changemakers who make up the Presidential Leadership Scholars Class of 2025 met for the first time in Philadelphia. After four days together, the Scholars started to build a community, and they left Module One with a better understanding of the program and one another. “What I didn’t expect is just how quickly this group would become a family,” 2025 #PLScholar Stephiney Foley said. “We arrived with our own lived experiences, deeply rooted convictions, and diverse perspectives and yet, through shared stories and radical vulnerability, we uncovered a powerful commonality — a shared commitment to creating a lasting, positive impact on the world,” she said. "Scholars like Julie, Sarah, Zanes, Tynesia, and the rest of our 537 alumni show up in their communities and workplaces every day with the desire to create positive change in a way that brings people together instead of driving them apart. They ask themselves who isn’t at the table when making a decision – and why not... "Political winds will blow every which way – especially with the charged language of an election year – but what remains firm are values-driven problem solvers, bridge builders, and community leaders who have a genuine interest in others."
