This year marks a huge change for Nature's Treasures as we are moving due to the IH35 Expansion Project. Karen Richards, owner of Nature's Treasures, decided to take this as an opportunity for growth and to address feedback from customers that we had no way to address at our current location. We were emotionally moved when the State notified us that the City had deemed us to be "culturally significant" and declared us an Austin icon. Collaborating with Preservation Austin during Legacy Business Month has been one of the best community engagement partnerships we have participated in, and we cannot be more grateful for the opportunity and exposure they have provided.” Michael Kallstrom, General Manager of Nature's Treasures of Texas, a 2024 Legacy Business Month Participant #givingtuesday

When we hosted the wood windows workshop I wasn’t sure who the audience would be – amateurs, enthusiasts, other architects? Turns out it was a lot of people just like me who wanted to maintain their historic windows in a historic way and, like me, found it difficult to learn how. The workshop was our opportunity to share knowledge about a subject that no other organization in Austin offers support for. Thank you PA! - Victoria Carpenter Holmes, Presenter at Preservation Austin’s DIY: Wood Window Workshop #givingtuesday

Donate $63 in honor of 63 years of our annual Preservation Merit Awards. Established in 1960, this program honors visionary approaches to preserving our city’s unique architectural, cultural, and environmental heritage. Seen here is the John & Drucie Chase Building, awarded a Preservation Award for Rehabilitation by The University of Texas's Division of Diversity & Community Engagement in 2021. Built in 1952, the building was designed by architect John S. Chase, FAIA, the first licensed Black architect in Texas. Projects like this embody the spirit of our Preservation Merit Awards.
