Presa Community Center was proud to support the Bexar County Panthers 5U Youth Football team and their families this Thanksgiving. We provided 26 turkeys, pies, and grocery bags full of holiday staples to ensure these young athletes and their loved ones could enjoy a festive and nourishing meal together. Today, we had an incredible team of student volunteers from Healy Murphy Center helping us at Presa Community Center. From organizing food and bread donations from SA Food Bank to packing 75 Thanksgiving bags for local families, they made a tremendous impact in our community! ???? Today, we proudly honor the veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. At Presa Community Center, we’re grateful to have veterans in our senior program and to support many more in our community through our emergency food pantry. We recognize that while their service may be behind them, many veterans still face challenges like food insecurity and a need for community support. Together, we can ensure they receive the respect, resources, and community they deserve.

In October 2024, Presa Community Center’s emergency food pantry reached 212 families and 445 individuals—nearly twice as many as last year. This significant increase highlights the rising need for food support in South San Antonio. To continue meeting this need, we’re proud to partner with Tex Hill Wing for an upcoming community food drive. Through November 20, Tex Hill Wing will be gathering donations to help our food pantry serve even more families in need. ?? ???? Empowering Health & Wellness in Our Community! ???? We were delighted to welcome community leaders from Healthy Neighborhoods, part of the City of San Antonio’s Metropolitan Health District, to our after-school program! They led an engaging session on COVID-19 awareness and health tips, equipping our kids with knowledge to stay healthy and safe. With interactive booklets and fun activities, the kids learned valuable wellness practices that empower them to make positive choices. We had some Halloween fun with our After School kiddos. We asked, “What are you going to be for Halloween?” and got some fun (and adorable) answers! At Presa Community Center, our after-school program isn’t just about after-school care—it’s a space where kids can be creative, make friends, and have fun together. Programs like ours are designed to support kids in our community with a safe and engaging environment.
