关于我们
PREreview's mission is to bring more diversity and equity to scholarly peer review by supporting and empowering communities of researchers, particularly those at early stages of their career (ECRs) and historically underrepresented in scholarship, to review preprints in a process that is rewarding to them. PREreview gives systematically disadvantaged scientists better ways to find a voice, train, and engage in peer review. Our work is a direct response to the flawed way scientific research is evaluated. Behind closed doors, a handful of unpaid reviewers—selected opaquely and mainly through personal connections—use subjective criteria to decide the fate of a research article. This arcane process is slow and disadvantages researchers from historically underrepresented groups. PREreview is a fiscally sponsored project of the non-profit organization Code for Science and Society and is funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the Wellcome Trust. ?? Congratulations to our colleagues at bioRxiv & medRxiv for finding their new home at openRxiv! This marks a significant milestone in advancing sustainability and fostering community-driven governance for two platforms that have transformed how research is shared. At PREreview, we’re excited to continue and expand our collaboration to support the open, equitable, and community-led evaluation of preprints. #preprint #openpeerreview #openscience
openRxiv has arrived! We’re thrilled to announce the launch of openRxiv as an independent nonprofit to oversee bioRxiv and medRxiv, the world’s leading preprint servers for life and health sciences. openRxiv ensures that researchers worldwide can continue to share discoveries rapidly and openly. With a researcher-led governance model, openRxiv strengthens the foundation of preprint sharing, empowering scientists to communicate findings at the speed of discovery. ? Why does this matter? Because science moves fast, researchers need a way to share discoveries freely and without delay. That’s exactly what openRxiv is here to grow and sustain. ? With preprints, researchers worldwide can: ?Share discoveries faster—get findings out to the world without waiting on traditional publishing timelines, providing real-time access to emerging research ?? Access new research freely—no paywalls, no barriers, just open science for all ?? Enable transparency in scientific communication—because research should serve the global scientific community Since their launches in 2013 and 2019, respectively, preprint servers bioRxiv and medRxiv have transformed how scientific findings are communicated. They have hosted more than 325,000 reports of new discoveries, enabling scientists worldwide to collaborate, iterate, and build upon each other’s work at an unprecedented pace. These platforms play a critical role during global challenges in health and research, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, where rapid scientific dissemination is key. Preprints provide real-time access to emerging research, accelerating collaborations and informing public health responses.? ? With openRxiv, bioRxiv and medRxiv remain independent, and researcher-led, ensuring researchers stay in control of how life and health science is shared. The organization allows for continued innovation in how the latest scientific results are communicated. ?? openRxiv ensures communication at the speed of science remains the mission. ? ?? ?? JOIN OUR NEXT DESIGN SPRINTS ON DATA REVIEW ?? If you are: - a researcher who loves data - a practitioner who depends on data to inform best practice - and/or an expert with lived experience regarding the importance of data to research and the open building and exchange of knowledge please join us at PREreview on Wednesday, April 2 for one of our next community design sprints and help us spread the word! This time, we’ll explore how developing a structured dataset review workflow will allow us to expand the types of early research outputs our community can review on PREreview. To learn more about what motivated us to hold this set of community design sprints and register for one of two sprint sessions, check out our blog post: https://lnkd.in/grg72D8e. #designsprint #datasetreview
