For over 50 years, Prein&Newhof has been meeting infrastructure needs for township, municipal, and private clients across West Michigan. We offer a wide range of engineering, environmental consulting, surveying, GIS, and laboratory services. At P&N, our single goal is to serve our clients – meeting their infrastructure needs with a combination of experience, integrity, creativity, and common sense. Because every situation is different, we put a high value on personal attention. And because needs change over time, we are dedicated to crafting flexible, long-term solutions rather than quick fixes. Begun by Tom Newhof and Ed Prein in 1969, P&N was founded on the belief that each engineer should take personal responsibility for meeting his or her clients’ needs – building long-term relationships and managing each project from start to finish, from preliminary design to final construction. Today, we are the engineer of choice for over 50 communities across West Michigan. Today Prein&Newhof is 100% employee-owned, with offices in Grand Rapids, Cadillac, Holland, Muskegon, Traverse City, Kalamazoo, and an Environmental Laboratory in Grand Rapids. We are excited to partner with the Village of Sparta on the expansion and reconstruction of the terminal apron at the Paul C. Miller Airport. This project will increase aircraft parking from four to fourteen tie-downs, providing more space for transient pilots and visitors while improving overall airport operations. Construction is expected to start back up and finish in the spring. The expansion includes new LED apron lighting to enhance safety in and around the terminal apron. Portland cement concrete pavement was designed for the new parking areas to hold up to heavy aircraft loads. The additional parking capacity will better serve the airport’s hangar spaces. This investment supports local tourism and economic development, especially during the Sparta Airport’s popular annual Fly-in & Pancake Breakfast community event! We’ve been working with the Otsego County Board of Commissioners to complete a rehabilitation of the Gaylord Regional Airport’s Runway 9/27. This airport runway transformation includes over 6,500 feet of HMA paving, airfield marking, pavement grooving, two blast pad rehabilitations, millings repurposed for service roads, and overall restoration. This extensive work, completed by Pyramid Paving & Contracting Co. and?M&M Excavating, will help to maintain the runway’s structural integrity, extending the lifespan of the runway while providing a safe landing and takeoff surface. We worked with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and TJM Services to renovate and replace the boardwalks and dune overlooks at Hoffmaster State Park, creating larger gathering spaces for public education opportunities and enhanced structures for the community to enjoy. We previously designed the dune climb stairway that leads up to the site and were thrilled to continue work on this exciting trail modernization project. Thanks to a great project team and dedicated construction throughout last winter’s snowy months, this popular Lake Michigan shoreline destination is open for hiking and exploring!
