"That's one of the problems with these [fetal personhood] laws, is that they're selective. They select out women because of their condition, which is unlawful." -Michele Goodwin Watch the full report from PBS News: https://lnkd.in/gfrHXdzT
关于我们
Pregnancy Justice works to ensure that no one loses their rights because of pregnancy or because of their capacity for pregnancy, focusing on pregnant people who are most at risk of state control and criminalization: those who are low-income, of color, and drug-using. We've maintained this mission since we were first established in 2001 as National Advocates for Pregnant Women.

The fight for the health, lives, and dignity of pregnant people does not end here. Pregnancy criminalization existed before?Dobbs, regardless of who was in the White House. We are prepared to address what lies ahead. We have historically defended people in the places with the most resistance, and we won’t stop now.?We will continue to provide pro bono legal support to as many people facing criminal charges related to pregnancy as possible,?advocate for laws that affirm pregnant people’s personhood,?train thousands to combat pregnancy criminalization, and?equip local attorneys?with the blueprint to win cases. Take the time to grieve, feel outraged, and process this immense blow to our rights and freedoms. Then, donate to local abortion funds, especially those in the south. Build community. Support the fight. We know when we take action, we make a difference. Now, more than ever, we ask you to join our movement: https://lnkd.in/gaajF6Nx

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Too often, pregnancy losses are unfairly attributed to substance use or other actions (or inactions) during pregnancy. In reality, there is usually no way to tell the cause of a loss. Our most recent report documents that 22 women were criminally charged in connection to their pregnancy loss in the first year after Roe was overturned. Pregnancy loss is increasingly being treated as a suspicious event. This month and every other, we're fighting for the prioritization of care instead of criminalization. No one should be shamed or criminalized for losing a pregnancy.
