Lost A Baby To Placenta Explosion. . . . Chichi and Peter were overjoyed when they found out they were expecting their first child. The pregnancy had been smooth sailing until 32 weeks, when Chichi experienced severe abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding. Rushed to the hospital, Chichi was diagnosed with placenta abruption, a life-threatening condition where the placenta separates from the uterus. Despite medical efforts, their baby didn't survive. Devastated, Chichi and Peter struggled to come to terms with their loss. Investigations revealed that Chichi's negligence in attending prenatal check-ups and ignoring warning signs contributed to the tragedy. Two years later, Chichi became pregnant again. Determined to ensure a different outcome, she diligently attended prenatal appointments and monitored her health closely. At 28 weeks, Chichi experienced similar symptoms – abdominal pain and bleeding. Panicked, she rushed to the hospital, where the medical team sprang into action. "History repeats itself," Chichi cried, fearing the worst. . . The medical team worked tirelessly to stabilize Chichi and her baby. Emergency interventions, including blood transfusions and corticosteroids, helped delay delivery until 34 weeks. Baby Emmanuel was born healthy, weighing 3.5kg. Overjoyed, Chichi and Peter thanked the medical team for their miracle and also went to church for a special thanksgiving service. Their Nurse-Midwife Rachel explained, "Placenta abruption management involves: 1. Immediate hospitalization and monitoring. 2. Blood transfusions to stabilize mother and baby. 3. Corticosteroids to enhance fetal lung maturity. 4. Emergency cesarean section if necessary. 5. Close monitoring of fetal heart rate and well-being. Strategies to prevent placenta abruption include: 1. Regular prenatal check-ups. 2. Monitoring blood pressure. 3. Addressing underlying medical conditions. 4. Avoiding smoking and substance abuse. 5. Reporting any bleeding or pain promptly." Chichi vowed, "I'll never take my health or prenatal care for granted again." Peter added, "We're grateful for our miracle baby and the medical team's expertise." Midwife Rachel smiled, "Every pregnancy is unique, but awareness and prompt action can make all the difference." --- PREGNANCY SUPPORT FOUNDATION shares weekly educative content on pregnancy. This happened some months back, long before I started planning LINKEDIN LOCAL-KADUNA I was hosted online...and interviewed to enlighten their audience On Zoom. It was a beautiful session. This month on Pregnancy Support Foundation, we'd be learning about Placenta Abruption Placenta abruption, also known as abruptio placentae, is a serious pregnancy complication where the placenta partially or completely separates from the uterus before the baby is born. This can cause bleeding and deprive the baby of oxygen and nutrients. This condition has led to the death of many babies inside the womb (uterus). So every Saturday this month, expect a post about PLACENTA ABRUPTION How's your weekend going fam? ______________ LINKEDIN LOCAL-KADUNA is just 2 weeks away. Please pray for us ??

IS ASTHMA CONTAGIOUS? CAN IT BE TRANSMITTED FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER, LIKE A COMMON COLD? According to WHO, Asthma is one of the non-communicable diseases that can affect both adults and children. So, what happens to the body of someone with Asthma? As one breathes in the air, the air is supposed to go to your lungs and supply your cells and tissues with Oxygen, but in the case of Asthma, the air pipes become so swollen that it makes it hard for the person to breathe and take in the much-needed oxygen. Now, enough of the big grammar! An Asthmatic attack is more like when one is suffocating or drowning; the person starts struggling to breathe, hence looks anxious, coughs, experiences chest tightness and tries to breathe through inflamed air pipes, leading to a” wheezing” sound. Have you ever seen a person having an asthmatic attack before? What did you do to help? Here are some tips to help someone having an asthmatic attack: ??Keep calm, being anxious will not help someone struggling to take the next breath ??Help them get their inhaler and help them use it if they can’t by themselves. One puff every 30-60secs up to 10 puffs. Most Asthmatics go around with their inhalers in their bags or purses. ??Help them sit up to breathe in the inhaler ??Avoid overcrowding. ??Engage bystanders to call the ambulance or emergency service ??Try to reassure that help is on the way. ??Loosen tight clothing Please share this life-saving knowledge with those who can benefit. In the next post, we are going to be delving into the question: Is Asthma transmitted from mother to child? You don't want to miss this episode. Follow us for more as this month at PREGNANCY SUPPORT FOUNDATION, we are dedicated to learning about Asthma In Pregnancy. Let’s continue in the next post, shall we?
