Yet, according to a 2021 study, 70% of Hispanics feel that most advertising doesn't understand their culture or background. The key to effectively engaging Hispanic audiences is embedding cultural competency at every step – whether it’s video content, influencer campaigns, or community engagement. Kevin, a member of our Communications and Spanish Specialty teams, participated in the White House Communities in Action forum earlier this week focused on Building a Better Puerto Rico. We're honored to work with him and so glad his expertise are being tapped at the highest level!
Thank you to Gretchen Sierra-Zorita, director for Puerto Rico and Territories at the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, for hosting, as well as Luis D. Dávila-Pernas, executive director at the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration, for the opportunity to contribute to the White House Communities in Action: Building a Better Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands forum. The Biden-Harris administration has provided historic levels of funding and resources towards Puerto Rico's recovery from natural disasters — much of which was held up by the previous administration — as well as unbridled support for the Puerto Rico Status Act, which is unprecedented in calling for a binding plebiscite among non-territorial status options. It was an honor to meet and interact with bright minds dedicated to Puerto Rico's recovery, including U.S. Department of Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg, FEMA director Deanne Criswell, U.S. Department of Commerce deputy secretary Don Graves, secretary of the Department of Transportation and Public Works of Puerto Rico Eileen Velez-Vega, PE, executive director of the Puerto Rico Central Office for Recovery, Reconstruction and Resiliency (COR3) Manuel A.J.
