关于我们

1) Praxis - (noun- Greek) - doing, action 2) Praxis - (noun- Modern) - the exercise of an art, science, or skill 3) Praxis Museum Projects Group -The exemplary "doing" of the art, science, and skill of audience-engaged, three-dimensional communications and visitor experiences combining the skills and expertise of Praxis' members. Praxis is a network of experienced practitioners working in all aspects of museum exhibition development – soup to nuts – concept to opening. History: Praxis began in 2008 as a small networking group whose members met informally to share information about our industry and strategies for achieving “best practices” and our best work. We decided to make this group a more formal entity so that we could expand our knowledge base about our industry, share information with a wider group, and offer the museum exhibition industry a complete range of project services. Our network of exhibit project professionals is comprised of independent consultants and others who work full-time for a variety of companies. We offer services for a whole project or any part of the project that you’re envisioning. Praxis' website: www.praxisexhibits.com CONTACT: [email protected]

Praxis member Carolynne Harris shares these thoughts about the recent #BuildingMuseums conference: I was happy to see this year’s conference have many more sessions that incorporated early-stage planning before architects and designers get heavily to work. I also noticed that several projects emphasized how they focused on their communities' needs - in physical design, visitor flow, and programming. As someone who has community engagement as one pillar of my museum planning philosophy, it was great to see how the developers of some of the museum projects truly listened and made choices based on how they could better welcome and engage visitors. Not to mention, as a more intimate conference, it was a lot of fun to connect IRL with colleagues across the country.

The Alamo is thrilled to share that Plaza de Valero, a community gathering space just south of Alamo Plaza, is now open! This vibrant and inviting gateway honors the Alamo’s original name, Mission San Antonio de Valero – the oldest of the city’s five Spanish missions. This pedestrian-friendly square in front of the historic Menger Hotel features lush greenspace and a performance pavilion where the Alamo will host regular programming for the community.

  • While museums and museum designers increasingly recognize the importance of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA), it’s not always clear how to translate that intention into action. In this Praxis webinar, we explore how to holistically move from embracing IDEA principles to driving sustainable change within our organizations, museum spaces, and communities. Nicolle Figueroa Rosado (Big Break Foundation) and Summer Martin (Andiron) share their expertise on implementing IDEA strategies and fostering sustainable progress. A Q&A session follows the discussion. Moderated by Trent Oliver, President and Chief Instigator of Blue Telescope. https://lnkd.in/eFbH6mqM
