Exciting to see Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) interventions being piloted in new contexts such as Lebanon! We look forward to learning more about these TaRL journeys. The evidence-based TaRL approach, pioneered by Pratham Education Foundation in India, helps children in grades 3 and above catch up on critical foundational literacy and numeracy skills quickly. Have you tried TaRL in your context before? Tell us in the comments!
We’re thrilled to see our partnership with The World Bank continue to drive positive outcomes for children. Together, Save the Children and the World Bank recently piloted an adaptation of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in Lebanon's public schools which reached over 3,600 students in Grade 3 and 4. The number of students achieving foundational literacy and numeracy significantly increased in schools where the program was implemented. A big thanks to everyone who made this possible Chrystal Holt Erin Wall Iman El Ali Rose Badawi! We’re excited to see where this collaboration takes us next. #education #foundationalskills #furthestbehind #impact ?? ?? ??

Data is a powerful tool ????. When you know how to use it, it can make a big difference. Last week, I was in Zambia, where we reviewed the results of the Catch Up Program with provincial teams, the HQ team from the Ministry of Education, and stakeholders, including TaRL Africa, VVOB, World Vision Zambia, and UNICEF. The Catch Up Program is implemented in 9 out of 10 provinces in #Zambia, benefiting 800,000 children in Zambian schools with support from all partners and dedicated school teachers. Year after year, the results continue to improve, and the Teaching at the Right Level method is helping Zambia become a leader in foundational literacy and numeracy. We worked with the provincial and HQ teams, along with partners, to help them understand the data so they can use it effectively at different levels. The team showed great enthusiasm in learning how to analyze, interpret, and apply the data in their own context. I’m excited for what’s ahead and hopeful that this year’s results will be even better, helping children learn more effectively. #TaRL #DataInEducation #TeachingAtTheRightLevel #Zambia #Literacy #Numeracy #Impact #FLN Pratham International | Teaching at the Right Level Africa

My day began early in Nairobi today, representing Pratham International at the #TaRL workshop in Pakistan remotely, organized by the British Council country office as part of an #FCDO-funded GOAL project. It was a wonderful opportunity to share the Teaching at the Right Level approach and help local actors and governments gain a deeper understanding of it, following the TaRL conference. Thank you VIKASH VARMA and Meenal Joshi for your support during the session!

What an incredible evening at the Global Business Coalition for Education! Issac Machuki, it was a pleasure discussing synergies across #workforcereadiness, the need for state-of-the-art lab facilities and the importance of industry expertise across #vocationaltraining centers in Kenya and beyond. Schneider Electric is a friend and we can’t wait to see what we do together! Pratham International

In 2025, I hope to share stories filled with lessons I learn from the world around me.??? On February 5, 2025, I had the privilege of attending the Global Business Coalition for Education's?business?roundtable titled:?#HarnessingthePowerofEastAfricasYouthSkillsandEmploymentfortheNextGeneration. The roundtable brought together leaders, local partners, advocates and decision-makers all working towards the Sustainable Development Goal of providing free, equitable, and inclusive quality education for all. It was a busy day! I also attended UNICEF's Project Alpha Innovation Dialogue: Sustainable power in humanitarian and fragile contexts. #ProjectAlpha aims to provide sustainable, reliable solar energy to schools, health centers, and water and sanitation facilities.?? Now, let me share some inspiring stories of the incredible individuals I met: ONDORA MOGERE DALTON is a young Solar Energy engineer and a technical trainer for Solar Mtaani - a Non-Profit Organization empowering communities through Solar Awareness programs, job creation and solar access. I was truly impressed by the special Solar Learning Program which gives everyone—especially those in youth and rehabilitation centers—a second chance to learn valuable skills. Wow! Prisca Muyodi is a passionate leader, educator and Founder of Taraji Afrika Educational Group (TAEG). She addresses the childcare crisis affecting low-income families, particularly those relying on informal daycare centers. Her program #Totocare provides high-quality, affordable childcare services, trains and supports micro-daycare franchises, focusing on nurturing children’s physical, cognitive, and social-emotional growth. The ambition to target market sellers - often mothers with infants at their workplaces - promises to be impactful! Angel Mohan, fantasizes about making a change in this world, and with Pratham International, they are doing just that in Kenya. They are partnering with county governments to raise awareness about the importance of practical training, advocating for well-equipped laboratories, and building strong industry connections. I can’t wait to see their accomplishments! My final interlocutor was Kiko Muuo, an engineer who has purposed to be a social entrepreneur to address the well known challenges in the education ecosystem. He founded Angaza Elimu, which, through its rich partnership with technology providers offers an interactive hands on training in STEAM(Science , Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths). This equips students with relevant 21st century workforce skills. Impressive! A big thank you to Janet Langa, Angela Sanja for the networking opportunities and to Justin van Fleet, Gilbert Ngaira for the great learnings.

Mother tongues shape how we learn, think & connect. In a new blog, Indresh Talsaniya, Manager for Content and Training at Pratham International, reflects on his experiences with "Storytelling." He also raises an interesting question: Can we harness the power of stories to protect and promote languages? Read more below! #InternationalMotherLanguageDay #IMLD2025
