Several hospitals and health systems have already met or even surpassed the goal of 38% per plate GHG reduction, with a 15.7% average reduction – and some Practice Greenhealth partners have achieved as much as a 54% reduction. It was great being able to conduct a training with 200 infection prevention and EVS professionals from the VA yesterday. Regulated medical waste reduction is very important and strategies to avoid over classification of waste need to be spread throughout the sector. Practice Greenhealth partner Brigham and Women's Hospital is putting health food front and center.?? The hospital redesigned its cafeteria, putting healthier options right where diners can see them first and placing more indulgent items in the back, to encourage diners to eat healthier. Brigham and Women’s two campuses were also among the first U.S. hospitals to sign the Coolfood Pledge, committing to cut 25% of their food-related greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
