While adults shop for groceries, children may clamor for products high in fat, salt, or sugar.?A new set of UK-wide restrictions, prompted by concerns over childhood obesity, seeks to decrease children's exposure to advertisements for these HFSS products. In a new video, "Advertising and Marketing Restrictions for Products High in Fat, Salt or Sugar (HFSS)," Katrina Anderson of Mills & Reeve explains the two-part test for determining which products are in-scope for the advertising restrictions, which are found in the Health and Social Care Act. She addresses specific exemptions, as well as the nuanced analysis regarding product advertising vs. brand advertising. In addition, she discusses parallel HFSS product marketing restrictions, which are for England and Wales only and are found in the Food (Promotion and Placement) Regulations.
