PPBE Reform Commission

Great work on PPBE Reform efforts continue - thought provoking piece related to the Commission’s recommendation on transformation of the budget structure as it relates to the Space portfolio.

In accordance with Section 1057 of the FY 2023 National Defense Authorization Act, the Senate Commission on PPBE Reform has concluded operations as of 28 August 2024. The Commission’s website https://lnkd.in/g_EpKhPn and its contents will remain available over the next year. We are also pleased to share the Department of Defense has created a PPBE Reform website https://lnkd.in/egu4SfZ5 to highlight and communicate its efforts and accomplishments towards implementing the Commission’s recommendations.

We were honored to brief the House Budget Committee today about the findings in our final report, and are grateful for the support of the Committee for the future implementation of our 28 recommendations critical for streamlining the defense budget process. Commissioners Robert Hale and Ellen Lord and Executive Director Lara Sayer shared with the Committee the importance of agility in the budget through budget line item consolidation and budget restructure, and how a digital budget could provide Congress with greater fidelity of DoD programs through a searchable and sortable enclave, providing increased transparency and trust.
