Open floor plans promote connectivity and natural light but introduce fire safety concerns due to the absence of traditional fire-rated barriers. In a fire event, smoke and flames can travel quickly through large, uncontained spaces. Fire + smoke curtain systems act as deployable barriers that activate automatically to contain fire and smoke. This helps protect occupants and reduce damage to interiors, ultimately conserving resources that might otherwise be spent on major repairs or rebuilding. Are you puzzling over code restraints in a fantastic open design? Call our smoke and fire protection experts early and often. We're here to help! #OpenFloorPlans #FireSafety #SmokeCurtains #InteriorProtection #DesignWithSafety #BuildingSafety #FirePrevention #NaturalLightDesign #ConnectiveSpaces #SmartDesignSolutions #smokeguard

Do you feel the restorative energy of longer days? ☀️ What if you could bring those benefits inside all year long? ✨ Daylight helps regulate key hormones that reduce stress and anxiety, creating a more balanced and calming environment. Daytime serotonin production boosts mood, while nighttime melatonin production improves sleep, both essential for managing stress levels. ✨ Exposure to natural light lowers cortisol, the body's primary stress hormone, reducing tension and promoting relaxation. Endorphins and dopamine, triggered by daylight, enhance mood and energy, helping combat anxiety. By integrating tubular daylighting, indoor spaces can naturally support mental well-being, leading to less stress and more excellent emotional stability. ✨ Want to energize your project? Consult our daylighting experts, they have all the best solutions! ☀️ #Solatube #DaylightBenefits #MentalWellness #StressReduction #IndoorLighting #HealthySpaces

Inspiring CREJ Workplace & Design nuggets! 💡✨
✨ CREJ 2025 Workplace & Design Conference: Top Takeaways ✨ Today, Denver’s design and real estate crowd gathered at The Cable Center for five jam-packed panels, twenty-five panelists, and enough buzzwords to fill a WeWork lobby. Topics ranged from amenities and tech to neurodiversity and the ever-elusive “future of the office.” Here’s what stuck (besides the name tags): ✨ Amenities Are the New Black: Churchill’s ghost made an appearance (metaphorically), reminding us, “We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.” We now want offices that feel more like boutique hotels—with hospitality-level service, indoor/outdoor access, and amenities that actually match the demographics of the people using them. Also: -We upgrade our phones every 3 years, but office spaces every 30—no wonder morale’s low. -Companies choosing Class A buildings believe better design = happier, stickier staff. -There’s a cry for child care downtown, and pet-friendly offices aren’t just for Instagram anymore. 📊 Trends > Fads: If it’s not backed by data, it’s just a mood. Real trends—like ditching the “sq. ft. per person” metric in favor of flexible, experience-based space—are reshaping how we plan offices. Designers are now leading intensive “discovery” sessions with everyone from HR to interns. The new success metric? Not just how a space works, but how it feels—head and heart. Fun fact: India leads in workplace satisfaction, Japan lags, and generational “differences” are mostly myths—we all want purpose, autonomy, and a decent snack drawer. 🧠 Designing for Neurodiversity: 20% of the population is neurodiverse, and the design world is finally catching up. -Gen Z is less into caffeine and more into therapy—take that, break room coffee machine. -The AIA updated its code of ethics to prioritize health and wellbeing. -Choice and control are essential: people want to decide how, where, and with whom they work. Also, JP Morgan’s “Autism at Work” program showed hiring neurodiverse talent increased productivity—proof that inclusive design isn’t just nice, it’s smart business. #CREJ #WorkplaceDesign #CommercialRealEstate #Neurodiversity #AmenitiesThatMatter #DesignStrategy #FutureOfWork

Shout out to Jon Stern and the Colorado Real Estate Journal for hosting a great Workplace & Design Conference yesterday. We were honored to have Brent Powers participate on the Hot New Products & Innovative Technologies panel alongside Emily Richards, Ryan Byrnes, Meghan Dougovito, and Philip Metzger. Among Brent's comments, he identified the huge leaps in acoustic glass performance and automation recently introduced by both Skyfold Inc. and Modernfold, Inc in addition to the free-form design capabilities made possible with the use of ETFE glazing systems from Bemo USA Corporation. We're fortunate to have so many talented designers and visionary developers in Denver, many of whom participated on other panels. Themes that resonated throughout the afternoon... indoor/outdoor connectivity (take advantage of those 400 days of sunshine😀), flexibility and adaptability, daylighting, connection to the neighborhood, social and emotional well-being, trends vs fads, growth in training needs / space, investing in corporate culture.

Thanks to all who braved the fickle Denver spring weather to get creative with us at our 2025 Ink & Drink Social! A fun addition for this year was the drawing for two people to create their own screen-print graphic. We all enjoyed seeing the entire process – from line drawing to screen creation. Grateful to our team and Modernfold, Inc, Skyfold Inc., and Euro-Wall, LLC. for pitching in to sponsor this unique networking event. A special thanks to Ink & Drink LLC Denver for the cool venue and the even cooler staff! Check them out and support Denver creatives. 🤩 Want to see more images from the event?
