The best thing I did to help MSPs build vCISO programs this week? Dig in the dirt. Sometimes, the best way to solve a problem is to step away from it. This past Saturday, I found myself behind the wheel of my tractor, spreading a dump truck’s worth of topsoil near the barn. The cows had trampled the ground so much it started to erode, and it was time to shore things up. As I worked, something interesting happened. The noise of emails and client calls faded away. I wasn’t thinking about vCISO go-to-market strategy, roadmaps, or operations design. I was just…working. And in that moment, as I spread dirt and smoothed the ground, the clarity for some complex problems I’d been chasing all week finally hit. I talk a lot about building in cybersecurity... Building resilient systems, building trust, building processes that last. But sometimes, to build anything worthwhile, you have to pause. Unplug. Clear your head. For me, that happens when I’m out here working on the farm, and the labor is as much for my mind as it is for the land. It’s a reminder that being busy isn’t the same as being effective. So here’s my challenge for you: ? When’s the last time you unplugged? ? Stepped away from the noise? When's the last time you freed your mind do the deep work while your hands did something completely different? Because serendipity is a thing. You don’t need a tractor or a dump truck of dirt to do it. But you do need mental space. So what's your go-to when you need to unplug? And if you don't have one, I could always use a hand out here ?? #cybersecfarmers ------------------------------------------ ?? Hi there; my name's Jesse. ?? Ever written a $50,000 email? Here's a fun story from the GRYD for your Friday. We have a member who recently finished their vCISO package re-design (and a ?? pitch deck) using the system, and had several deals in the pipeline. The first of these - a smaller but healthy $4,000 MRR vCISO program - was getting down to decision stage, and the client sent the dreaded "how much time are you spending" email the day before the final meeting. If you know, you know. ?? That question can be a deal killer. The wrong answer can create a thread of doubt in the value of the service. And if the client pulls on it, can unravel the entire value prop. So our member dropped the question in a message board, and I provided the answer and positioning for a response. Just two words popped up in a message the next day: "Deal closed." I was stoked, so I asked - tell me about how it went down? "I literally copied and pasted your comment in reply to the client's email." Well that's cool ?? And it's a curious thing... How all that planning, all that positioning, all that work can be undone - or won - with a few lines of text. But that's why the PowerGRYD vCISO System is a full spectrum approach. Because when you align messaging, positioning, packaging, pricing, service delivery, and account management with the client journey in mind... You create differentiators, and the ability to convey value easily. And bottom line, you win deals. So if you're looking to create growth opportunities for your MSP with vCISO services: Drop me a DM with the word "Growth" to position your vCISO program for value and bottom line... help you close deals. Steal my go-to-market playbook to drive adoption for cyber services in your MSP's current client base. (Hint: it's an intro to your vCISO program) First, have a low-water-mark set of controls and know how much risk they reduce in your model. ? MFA ? vCISO ? EDR/AEP ? SIEM with CSPM ? Immutable Backups ? Security Awareness Training ? Personnel to manage above tools (MDR) ? Written and Tested Incident Response Plan ? Cyber Insurance (?? controls = easy underwriting) Then, segment your client base and group clients by maturity, revenue, and need (think regulatory / risk / business drivers) to identify areas of opportunity. Start delivering loss-leader risk assessments and making recommendations for the low water mark (and other services) Now, I know what you're thinking... "I'm not going to get my clients to bite this all off at once." Duh ;) Use my "3 filter" approach to educate properly when delivering the risk assessment: 1. Risk without MSP IT services = ~90%+ 2. Risk with existing IT MSP services = ~70% 3. Ideal State with managed security services = ~25% ?? This effectively neutralizes the "We thought you did this already" objection. From there, apply a continuous monitoring approach with your vCISO program: ? Show value and educate ? Move initiatives forward with purpose ? Keep risk discussion top-of-mind and proactive ? Provide client with actionable info and create budget And watch as your cyber revenue explodes ?? The best part is, you can then take this approach and apply it to other motions with net-new prospects and market segments. So, if you want to build a 7-figure vCISO program that's the tip of the spear - driving revenue in all other parts of your MSP... Shoot me a DM with the word "Motion" and let's talk about how to put your plan into action. Or head here next: https://lnkd.in/gaJ7Chm2

The four vCISO "deadly sins" other MSPs are committing... Are you? I see it time and again... ?? Lack of clarity in packaging and value prop. ?? Weak communication with stakeholders. ?? vCISO detached from business goals. ?? Poorly defined service delivery ops. This means missing out on hundreds of thousands - even millions - of revenue dollars in a year. Read that again. But the best part is... Every single one of these are things *you can control* to outshine and outmaneuver your competition. ? Create an outcome-driven model to match client needs. ? Strengthen customer dialogues with tailored comms. ? Sync vCISO efforts with client business initiatives. ? Boost efficiency with streamlined operations. These foundational methods are templated, taught, and transformed in the PowerGRYD vCISO System. It's your MSP's secret weapon to scale a vCISO practice profitably. And it's why our members are: - Filling up pipeline - Closing more deals - Supercharging profits in their security practices. Why your MSP hasn't cracked 7 figures in vCISO revenue yet. (and what to do about it) A security program won't be effective without: ? Governance ? Risk Management ? Executive Participation ? Performance Management ? Accountability for Task Execution What do all these things have in common? It's what a vCISO provides. So... Are you: ? Including vCISO as part of your default proposals? ? Recommending vCISO in the risk assessment? ? Talking cyber performance management? ? Weaving vCISO value into your decks? ? Positioning the need for a leader? Bottom line: Is this all part of a crafted narrative that educates, illuminates, and benefits your clients? Because don't get it twisted - your clients NEED vCISO. Their program will flounder without it. Helping them understand that is where you come in. Want the systems, packaging, pitch decks, service workflows, and client deliverables to do this at scale? Drop me a DM with the word "Benefit" and let's talk strategy on building a vCISO package that converts. Or head here next: https://lnkd.in/gaJ7Chm2

You sacrifice to do what you love. And that's true for everything from cybersecurity to farming. We'll get to that in a second, but first, a story. ?? Our first head of beef went in for processing this week ?? And, like many things on the farm, that means getting up well before dawn. So for those curious, what does the process look like? Night before: - Separate out the heifer to the loading paddock - Back the trailer up to the gate to be ready to go Morning of: - Up at 4:45 - Out to the corral by 5:15 - Sarah Miller and I chase a 1400lb heifer into the trailer - Try not to get mule-kicked and/or trampled in the process - Load up and make the hour trip to the USDA processing plant - Load out at the plant; head out to doughnuts with the kids - Back in the saddle for a 10am PowerGRYD LinkedIn Marketing AMA with Kevin Clune It's a heck of a life... but man is it fun. Nothing like the reward when that head of beef steps into the plant and you know all your hard work and investment is paying off. And nothing like the reward when I see some lightbulbs come on for GRYD members as they get transformational knowledge to grow their vCISO practices. It's always an immediate sense of gratefulness. And yes, it's a sacrifice - at least on paper. But I heard a saying recently that resonated: "It's a life that's hard on the body, but easy on the soul." And it hit me. That's the same for anything you love to do. Whether it's building vCISO programs, or regenerative agriculture systems, it's not "hard work." It's fun work. So, who's with me - are we gonna have some fun in 2025, or what?! Let's build. #cybersecfarmers ------------------------------------------ ?? Hi there; my name's Jesse. ?? Competition is for losers. In vCISO, the goal isn’t to compete - it’s to dominate. How? By laser-focusing on your Ideal Client Profile (ICP). Don’t chase every lead. Don’t compete on price. Instead, define a narrow market segment. Own it. Know exactly what your ideal clients need. Tailor your vCISO services to exceed their expectations. Dominate. And expand to the next. It's the playbook that countless success stories have followed in tech: - Paypal (started with eBay) - Google (started with search) - Amazon (started with books) We would do well to learn from this as MSPs. When your ICP is dialed in, you’re not just another option. You’re ?????? solution they can’t live without. Specialize. Stand out. Dominate. In a market full of generalists, be the one who delivers exactly what your niche needs. Stop competing. Start dominating. ------------------------------------------ ?? Hi there; my name's Jesse. ?? Ransomware - and a half million dollars in revenue. If that word doesn't make you shudder just a little, you probably haven't experienced it firsthand. Many years ago, when I got the dreaded call from our biggest client, I had no idea what we were in for. ??????????????????????, we had performed a detailed security assessment for this client, and they had declined our recommendations. Fortunately? What I mean is, we weren't on the hook - nor did the client blame us. We had: ? Clearly educated on IT vs. cybersecurity. ? Offered robust security services. ? Documented their risk. So while they were in a bad way, they held no animus for us. They just needed our help. So we gave it - and were paid HANDSOMELY for it. Don't be on the other side of that. If you haven't been clear on: ? What your MSP IT services include (and don't) ? A clear vision of the risk your clients have ? The documented risk of inaction You could quickly find the client pointing the finger at you. My advice: when you get that call (and you will), be in a position to help, not a position of fear. ?? So how did things turn out? I'm not gonna sugar coat it - it was a long couple of months for both us and them. but at the end of it... They were back up and running, and we had $250,000+ in incident response and recovery plus a shiny new 5 figure MRR cyber services contract. ?????????? ???????? ?? ?????????????? ???? ?????? ????????-???????????? ?????????????? - ???????? ?? ???????????? ???????????? - ???????? ?????? ?????????? ????????????????. These are the results a structured vCISO program delivers for your MSP: ? Protection from liability and services churn ? Clear conversations on client risk ? Huge revenue opportunities So, if you want the blueprint for this plan, and a proven system to implement it...
