POST protects open space on the San Francisco Peninsula and in the South Bay for the benefit of all!
关于我们
Our Mission: POST protects open space on the Peninsula and in the South Bay for the benefit of all. Our Vision: POST is creating a network of protected lands where people and nature connect and thrive. These lands are preserved forever so present and future generations benefit from the careful balance of rural and urban landscapes that makes our region extraordinary. Our Impact: Since our founding in 1977, POST has protected more than 87,000 acres of permanent open space, farms and parkland in San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. These lands are now part of the National Park system, National Wildlife Refuge system, California State Parks, county and city parks, regional preserves and private farmland. POST takes a science-driven approach in our decisions about land acquisition and stewardship so that every property is appropriately cared for.

From our business model to our history to the lands we love, Gordon has the expertise to carry out our mission of protecting open space for the benefit of all. Last week, Walter Moore announced he is retiring after 30 years with our organization, 15 of them leading the way. Walter's visionary leadership has significantly contributed to our region's health, vitality, and resilience. Thank you, Walter, for your unwavering dedication. Gordon, we’re thrilled to continue growing alongside you to preserve biodiversity, build resilience to climate change, and expand access to nature nearby!

?? Reflecting on a Year of Growth and Impact ?? Last fiscal year, POST continued its mission to protect and care for the breathtaking open spaces of the Peninsula and South Bay. From our beginnings—tackling one project at a time and conserving iconic areas like Bair Island and Windy Hill—we’ve grown into an organization capable of managing multiple, complex projects simultaneously, all thanks to our generous donors and your support. This year, we’ve broadened our impact, continuing to build a connected network of protected lands and engaging with diverse communities and partners across the Bay Area. Together, we’re making a lasting difference. https://lnkd.in/g3U3kGcV

We’re thrilled to announce that POST recently acquired the stunning 1,340-acre Pescadero Ranch in southeastern Santa Cruz County! This property provides essential connectivity for wildlife moving between the Southern Santa Cruz Mountains and the Gabilan Range. Safeguarding these passages helps promote biodiversity and climate resilience in our region. Pescadero Ranch is also part of the Juristac Tribal Cultural Landscape. Its meaningful spiritual, cultural, and natural components are sacred to the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band. In addition to its cultural significance, this remarkable property includes habitat for several at-risk species. Golden eagles and northern harriers forage on its grassy, oak-dotted hillsides. Its?streams and ponds suit California red-legged frogs, California tiger salamanders, steelhead trout, yellow-legged frogs, and southwestern pond turtles. We were excited to see today's coverage in the Mercury News and the Chronicle! Read the press release for more information.
