What a joy to facilitate a convening earlier this month for the Pittsburgh-based network of student success organizations the Posner Foundation supports. The focus was on supporting the transition to and through college.

Grantee Spotlight: ALUMNI THEATER COMPANY Alumni Theater Company creates bold theatrical work that gives fresh voice to the experience of young Black artists and highlights their rich contribution to our community. Staff work with each high school student to develop a written, viable plan for postsecondary education. This includes college selection, application assistance, preparation for standardized testing, audition preparation, associated fee payment, and financial aid form completion. Alumni Theater Company stays connected to all its alumni and provides mentoring and emergency financial resources to students who need support in postsecondary education.

The Posner Foundation is happy to announce its recent round of grants focused on student success initiatives in the Pittsburgh region. We will be highlighting the work of each organization in the coming months. We can’t wait to share their work with you! PRC crew joined folks from CONNECT (Congress of Neighboring Communities), Posner Foundation and others to tour City of Hermitage wastewater treatment plant. This incredible facility uses anaerobic digestion to process food waste alongside biosolids collected from #wastewater into #biogas used to produce energy that goes back into the grid. Thursday's field trip explored different avenues of food waste diversion -- including landfill and #composting -- and highlighted a unique approach to the food waste problem.

Exciting announcement: we are expanding!?? With the support of the Posner Foundation, we are grateful to announce that we are expanding our organization to offer formalized support for our currently enrolled high school students and alumni, ages 18-24, with a Post-Secondary Success Program. The addition of this program comes from feedback received from students, staff, board members, and partners and working groups that included staff and Youth Steering Committee Members during our strategic planning process where 2 priorities became clear: 1 ) build a post-secondary success program that both supports existing high school programs and formalizes ways in which ARYSE works with youth aged 18-24 and 2) Explore opportunities to deepen and expand university and college collaborations that include stronger connections/pipeline development to CCAC as well as other colleges and universities. Our support of students during their post-secondary education is not new but will instead be formalized into holistic programming led by the Post-Secondary Program Manager - more details on how to apply will be shared tomorrow! In its second year, Reshaping Consumer Behavior in LatAm 2024, in partnership with Posner Foundation, is supporting 10 startups creating solutions to reshape consumer behavior and reduce food waste by empowering and informing consumers, improving food center processes, and reducing loss risk in production in Latin America. These founders will grow alongside each other and will receive USD 4K each from Posner Foundation to scale their solutions and impact. This year we launched #WRAPAmericas. We brought together key stakeholders from across our projects in the Americas at the official opening, to share their hopes for what can be achieved through collaboration with businesses, governments, and NGOs in North America, Central America and South America.
