We are deeply grateful for the continued support from the Lowe's Foundation! Receiving the $500,000 Gable Grant has been truly transformative. This partnership is a testament to the positive impact we can achieve together in providing individuals from the community with invaluable opportunities for growth and success. ???? #CareersinConstructionMonth #LowesFoundationCICM #BuildingFuturesTogether
It was an honor to visit Positive Workforce?and celebrate its largest ever graduating class, which had a 100% retention rate! We also awarded its $500,000 Gable Grant, which makes Positive Workforce the first-ever grant recipient from the state of New York and one of just nine community-based nonprofits receiving grants nationwide.?#CareersinConstructionMonth #LowesFoundationCICM

At?Positive?Workforce,?we?recognize?the?profound?impact?of?uniting?as?a?community?to?reach?individuals?in?need?of?opportunities. Thank you Avenues for Justice, Inc. Training Facility: Positive Learning Center
Through a referral from Avenues for Justice, we are incredibly proud of AFJ Participant Amari for completing the plumbing certification at Positive Workforce. He also just started his electrical training and was happy to show off some of the work that he is learning. Positive Workforce, Inc. was founded in 1987 as a New York City minority advocacy and employment service organization. Its mission is to assist members of the local community in obtaining both entry-level and Journeyman positions in the construction industry by working with major developers and contractors to ensure proper community participation. Positive Workforce has succeeded in providing thousands of jobs in the construction industry throughout NYC. The jobs obtained have salaries that are among the most competitive in New York City. After placement, Positive continues to assist participants by working with developers and contractors in tracking placement attendance, accountability and work performance thereby retaining their employment. We are incredibly proud of Amari and are looking forward to our continued partnership with Positive Workforce to find our young adults employment in good paying and competitive jobs throughout the city!

What a week! Enjoyed hosting our 10 community-based nonprofit #GableGrants recipients at Lowe's University. A big thanks to Next Stage for hosting a workshop on pursuing a common purpose before we all joined in on a Sleep in Heavenly Peace bed build, which completed 1,000 beds for children in need around Charlotte!

Highlights from the #HarlemWeek Job & Career Fair in The City College of New York's Great Hall… ?? Schenine Mitchell, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2 Brownfields Program Coordinator, met trainees from our first-ever Construction Trades Training program with Positive Workforce. ?? On the Green Jobs panel, Ms. Mitchell, Angelo Lampousis & representatives of NYC Mayor's Office of Talent and Workforce Development & Con Edison agreed that job skills — including technical writing and soft skills — are increasingly more important in hiring decisions than traditional degrees. ? And last but not least, Rangel team members Nicole Mbisike & Jill B. Weston worked their magic, encouraging job-seekers to invest in their future with infrastructure job training.

Positive Workforce joins Douglaston Development and residents of Sack Wern Houses at the Top of The Hill Basketball Tournament.
NYCHA kicked off their Top of the Hill Basketball Tournament at Sack Wern houses yesterday. The Douglaston PACT team joined them, along with our workforce consultant Positive Workforce, to meet the residents and let them know about upcoming construction opportunities at the Sack Wern site. We are excited to continue engaging with the community and finding more ways to work alongside residents to improve Sack Wern.

Thank you Vinny Torres and Positive Workforce Team for visiting The City College of New York and for addressing the participants enrolled in infrastructure training with The Charles B. Rangel Infrastructure Workforce Initiative. Your enthusiasm is contagious and we are all excited to welcome you again on campus soon!
This is an exciting week for the Rangel Initiative! Vinny Torres, Executive Director of Positive Workforce, visited Baseline Training to tell trainees about our new Construction Jobs Training Track, aimed at placing graduates in the jobs that are building our city. Participants will get hands-on experience in electricity, carpentry and plumbing in Positive Workforce's well-equipped training facility and employment support once they're done. We couldn't have partnered with a better organization. Thanks, Vinny! Now let's get these folks to work ????????
