Simon P. Couch has been exploring the fascinating intersection of Large Language Models (LLMs) and R package development, and the results are truly inspiring! He's shared his journey and the experimental packages he's created on the tidyverse blog: https://lnkd.in/gTJvPWer He discusses three new R packages, chores, ensure, and gander, designed to boost productivity in R package development and data science by automating repetitive tasks using Large Language Models (LLMs). ? chores (previously pal): Automates tasks via keyboard shortcuts, like updating testing code and drafting roxygen documentation. ? ensure: Focuses on writing unit tests by understanding function arguments from the entire file and neighboring files. ? gander: A chat interface that allows models to "see" the data being worked on, tailoring responses for data scientists. These packages are still experimental, but they showcase the immense potential of LLMs to revolutionize our workflows. Try out ellmer, chores, ensure, and gander yourself, and share your experiences!
