SHOUT OUT to Posillico Civil, Inc. for their structure, "Guiding Light of Generosity" They described their structure as: Historically, the Lighthouse was crucial in providing visibility in dangerous waters. It symbolizes safety and guidance in times of darkness and uncertainty. It stands as a powerful metaphor as a beacon of hope and community support. Much like those days, today, we are faced with some astronomical challenges of our own, with the plight of food insecurity near the top of the list. We must find a way to be a beacon for those navigating difficult times, offering sustenance and support when it's needed most. Over 221,000 Long Islanders, including nearly 45,000 children, are food insecure. Constructed from approximately 2,300 cans, our 6-ft-tall sculpture of the Lighthouse illustrates the hope provided to families facing food insecurity. The sculpture symbolizes the need for all of us, now more than ever, to take responsibility for the food crisis that surrounds us on a daily basis and be a beacon of hope to support our community.
