With ice covering our rivers, this is a good informational repost by WESA about the conditions by which our rivers freeze. This is also a good time to remind everyone to use caution when doing activities or commuting near shorelines, bridges or trails. Be careful out there! https://lnkd.in/ejR_4PaY

From: Shane Checkan, Navigation Committee Chairman Waterways Association of Pittsburgh? Sent: Friday, April 5, 2024 8:16 AM Subject: HIGH WATER UPDATE All, The Crest is down below Hannibal moving down river. I want to say again this does not mean we are out of the woods or this event is over. For Example in Pittsburgh please remind yourself and others that yes we have fallen 6'?and it feels as if we are out of this, but 22' is still All out on the Dams and prevents most vessels from transiting through Pittsburgh due to bridge clearances. Also please remember as our locks go back into service, cleanup takes significant time. We know everyone is anxious to get back to normal operations but please be patient and understand this was the highest water we have seen in Pittsburgh in 20 years. The Industry as a whole has done a great job, with no major incidents, let's make sure we finish this event that way.
