Yesterday evening, Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld shared exciting updates on the Port of Baltimore and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport at the annual World Trade Center Institute’s State of the Ports event. Secretary Wiedefeld highlighted the Port’s progress, including increased truck processing, recovering cargo volumes, and the successful handling of double-stacked rail containers. He also celebrated Carnival Cruise Line’s new five-year contract.

Starting November 18, Ports America Chesapeake will be adjusting gate hours at Seagirt Marine Terminal. The main gate will be open from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM and the New Veil Street outbound gate will be closing at 4 PM. Please plan accordingly and stay tuned for additional updates.

A huge week for containers last week at the Port of Baltimore, with 17,563 container moves at the Seagirt Marine Terminal. It was our busiest single week for containers in 2024. One move is each time a container is loaded on or off a ship. Great progress as we continue our recovery! Ports America

We continue to make progress in our recovery. Yesterday our Seagirt container terminal handled 3,677 trucks, the most since the Key Bridge incident. We also handled 32 percent more cars in September year-over-year. Ports America Maryland Motor Truck Association
