Based in Pocatello, Idaho, Portneuf Medical Center is a nationally recognized, comprehensive healthcare leader. With 205 beds, PMC serves as the region’s Level II Trauma and tertiary care center and is home to the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group and Portneuf Air Rescue. PMC has a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit, an adult Intensive Care Unit, nationally recognized orthopedic services, a full suite of cardiac care, center of excellence recognized surgeons, imaging, primary and specialty care. We pursue excellence every day in our hospital and clinics, as well as educate the next generation of physicians and health professionals. Congratulations to our recent WIN Award winner, Annie Mowrey! She was nominated by Abby Wilson. Here's what Abby had to say: "Annie is a rockstar. Recently, Annie’s dedication to her work and providing safe care shined extremely bright. She was the educator for a young pediatric patient newly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes whose family was Spanish-speaking only. Type 1 diabetes is an overwhelming diagnosis and insulin is very serious. The diagnosis can be scary for families. Annie explained that helping this family was her 'call to duty.' Each day she had a well-planned schedule in place for education, connecting with the physician and ensuring the patient had what they needed to safely discharge. She coordinated translation using available technology and engaged a Spanish-speaking ISU family medicine resident to help with written discharge instructions. Annie also helped coordinate follow-up care for this family who does not live in Southeastern Idaho. Annie needs to be celebrated for truly stepping up to the call of duty and caring for this patient and her family. We are so lucky to have Annie as part of our team." Thanks, Annie, for all you do!
