Streamlining the adventure: New online permitting process at the Sebago Lake Land Reserve (SLLR) The SLLR encompasses 1,700 acres of Portland Water District land in the watershed which is open to the public for passive recreation. Each year, visitors fill out over 35,000 day-use permits at the trail entrance kiosks. Now, visitors can easily complete a day-use permit by scanning the QR Code at our kiosks with a mobile phone and enjoy the trails hassle-free—just scan, submit, and go! https://lnkd.in/g-n-P2KG

Portland Water District welcomes Emanuel (Manny) Archibald of Gray as Director of Human Resources. Prior to joining PWD, he served as Vice President of Administration at Bull Moose. In this role, he oversaw key areas including Human Resources, Information Technology, Safety, Loss Prevention, and Facilities for over 180 employees across Maine and New Hampshire. Manny began his career in progressive HR and administrative roles, quickly rising through the ranks to manage the human resources function at Goodwill Industries of Northern New England and later at Prebble Street. He is an accomplished human resources leader who has successfully developed and implemented strategic HR initiatives, enhancing employee engagement and ensuring compliance with labor laws.

The Portland Water District thanks Trustee Guy Cote for his 15 years of service! At his final meeting tonight, he was honored with a commemorative chair in recognition of his dedication and leadership, including past roles as President and Committee Chair. As a parting gesture, Trustee Cote gifted handcrafted pens he made from old wooden water mains to fellow trustees and attending staff.

????Exciting developments at the East End Wastewater Treatment Facility!???? Things are moving and blooming at the East End Wastewater Treatment Facility! The Secondary Clarifiers are undergoing a significant upgrade, enhancing efficiency and sustainability. These improvements are part of a $5 million investment to ensure the treatment process runs smoothly. In addition, our Pollinator Garden is in full swing, buzzing with life as it supports essential pollinators like bees and butterflies. We're committed to innovation and environmental stewardship—creating a cleaner, greener future for our community. What is under the dome? These three clarifiers are essential to the operation of the treatment facility. They provide an opportunity for solids to settle out so that the water is clean and ready to be sent to Casco Bay after disinfection.
