As we continue to celebrate National Native American Heritage Month, we want to share with you a special performance from a recent school board meeting. A Siletz tribal member and PPS parent sang a tribal song during the meeting. The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians are the most diverse confederation of Tribes and Bands on a single reservation in the United States.

Over the past three years, Portland Public Schools has transformed literacy instruction with curriculum adoptions and through teacher professional learning all grounded in the Science of Reading. ???? By integrating phonological awareness, phonics, grade-level texts, and explicit writing instruction, we're setting our students up for reading success! For National School Psychology Week, we are highlighting school psychologists across the district. Today we put the spotlight on Emma Morgan-McLeod, school psychologist at James John Elementary.
