Join us on Sept 20 for ACT & Psychedelics: Using the Psychological Flexibility Model to Facilitate Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy. This workshop will focus on the core processes of change described by ACT and discuss how those same processes may be usefully applied to understanding and maximizing benefits from psychedelic experiences. 关于我们
OUR MISSION is to use science to develop and guide compassionate, effective treatment and contribute to the wider community through research and training. We offer individual and group therapy and can provide sliding scale services to those in financial need. EVIDENCE-BASED THERAPY is at the heart of our practice. We are dedicated to treating psychological problems with methods based on the best science available. We specialize in a form of cognitive-behavior therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which has been shown in empirical studies to be effective for a wide variety of psychological problems. RESEARCH drives everything we do. Most of our therapists are also researchers, which means that we stay up-to-date on what the research says about what works. If we can't provide what we think is the best treatment for what a client is struggling with, we will do our best to refer them to an appropriate treatment.

So psyched to get this work out there.
Check out a recent paper about a new measure Jason Luoma, Veronika Gold, MFT, Luke Allen, and I created assessing client perception of touch in MDMA-assisted therapy. https://bit.ly/4cqGiXt Social Neuroscience & Psychotherapy (SNaP) Lab is using it in our current study of MDMA-assisted group therapy, and we hope other researchers out there will pick it up and use it too! Although central to MDMA-assisted therapy, touch in this work is not well-studied (if at all). The newly developed Touch Outcomes Measurement Inventory (TOMI) aims to bridge this research gap. Why is studying touch in therapy so important? With MDMA’s empathogenic effects enhancing somatic processes and receptivity to touch, understanding its impact is vital for ethical and safe therapy practices. Touch + MDMA raises ethical concerns due to power imbalances between client and therapists and vulnerable states of consciousness. This paper also reviews the history of touch in psychotherapy as well as therapeutic potential, risks, and importance of consent. And we underscore the need for more empirical evidence and further development of research on touch in psychedelic therapy.
