There's another area that doesn't get as much conversation - how parking garages can be "sold out" but underutilized owing to monthly pass holders only visiting the office 2-3 days a week. We're grateful for Governor Janet Mills issuing a proclamation that February 7, 2025 is 2-0-7 Day in Maine. Portland Downtown started 207 Day four years ago to lift up our small business community, particularly in one of Maine's slower times. It's really taken off. 207, for the non-Mainers, is the area code for the entire state. We'll continue to host a fun scavenger hunt, there's lots of 2-0-7 related deals and it is a fun way to celebrate local pride. We'll continue to push the event via our various channels so follow us to sign up & participate. #207 #207Day #Maine #areacode #shoplocal #downtown #mainething #smallbiz #portland #portlandmaine WHEREAS, Maine’s 207 area code has become a well-recognized aspect of our state's collective identity and is a source of pride; and WHEREAS, in celebration of Maine’s unique status as one of only 11 states with a single area code, Portland Downtown launched 2-0-7 Day in 2022 to promote Portland’s small business community and provide a new exciting event for residents during a traditionally slower time in Maine’s economy; and WHEREAS, annual activities on 2-0-7 Day include a self-guided, virtual scavenger hunt through Portland, $2.07 deals and 20.7 percent discounts at participating businesses; and WHEREAS, 2-0-7 Day presents an opportunity for residents to exit their winter hibernation, show their Maine pride and come together as a community to shop small and strengthen our local economy; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, that I, Janet T. Mills, Governor of the State of Maine, do hereby proclaim February 7, 2025 as 2-0-7 Day in Maine, and I urge all citizens to celebrate our beloved 207 area code and support small business this winter season.
