Excited to share the updated visual identity for Clark Vancouver Television (CVTV). We simplified the logo for better legibility and developed an accessible brand color palette that speaks to the City of Vancouver and Clark County palettes, with some fresh additions to represent the four key areas CVTV covers: County, City, Community Events, and Elections. PDC also designed the City of Vancouver’s brand in 2023! These brands are designed to work together while having their own unique vibe. New certification! Proud to be recognized and included by Women's Business Enterprise National Council. ??

Back when @abbyswaindesign and I collabed on @cityportland branding, we made sure to get professional prints of CMYK color builds on both coated and uncoated papers, and Pantone coated and uncoated builds on coated and uncoated papers. It’s important to see the colors first hand on different substrates, and compare to digital versions on multiple devices to get a true sense of how the palette will show up. Be thorough ??

Portland Design Co was recently certified as a Woman Owned Small Business by the U.S. Small Business Administration! It was a long and arduous process, and I'm so thrilled to have this certification.

In-progress digital illustration for one of my fave clients ?? . The project called for an outdoor water-related activity that evokes fun and excitement, and showcases some product. The most challenging part isn’t the art itself, it’s the idea of creating art that evokes a feeling or emotion in a clients’ very broad audience. How do you design or illustrate with the intent to evokes an emotion? Is it possible or is it subjective? Especially in a design or illustration without words to guide the viewer into how the artist or client expects them to feel or wants them to see? All while keeping things simple and flexible for multiple sized print collateral? Comment below if you have thoughts! Since April 2023, LK and a team of three colleagues diligently worked on a brand identity design project for the City of Vancouver, Washington. Situated on the southern edge of Washington state, Vancouver sits on the Columbia River, opposite Portland, Oregon. It is a city focused on growth, with a vibrant waterfront featuring new dining and residential options. Vancouver is committed to equity, stewardship, and resilience. We won this project through a national RFP process last spring and, after LK met with city officials, we eagerly started designing the visuals. The main requests were for a water-related icon, super legible typography, a color palette inspired by the Pacific Northwest, and comprehensive brand guidelines. We are thrilled with the outcome and extend our gratitude to everyone at the City of Vancouver who participated in this process, particularly the Communications team. On to the next city!
