To celebrate our #175thAnniversary, we’re going to share a weekly nugget from our past. We’ve changed a lot since 1850, so we hope you find this trip down memory lane as fascinating as we do. Let’s start with our namesake. Porter-Leath was named for two of its earliest benefactors: Dr. D. T. Porter and Sarah Leath. It has been fun celebrating #ReadAcrossAmerica week, which coincides with Dr. Seuss' birthday! Check out one of our AmeriCorps Seniors #fostergrandparents dressed as the ever-famous Cat in the Hat. She read to #preschool children at the Porter-Leath #EarlyChildhood Academy in Frayser. Our students loved her enthusiasm for the stories!
