‘BYOAI’ – bring your own AI (also known as #ShadowAI), is where unsanctioned GenAI usage comes as a result of employees that are using their own initiative or curiosity to explore GenAI, but it leaves enterprises in a difficult position. It's very similar to the early days of smart phones when employees were using their own devices for business (BYOD -- Bring Your Own Device) without proper security and governance. While #BYOAI serves as an opportunity for employees to harness their own capabilities of #GenAI for tangible business purposes, #BYOAI still needs to be governed.
