  • Teen Leadership Government & Public Service Day Recap! A huge THANK YOU to our sponsor, Sentry, for making this incredible day possible! After a weather delay last week, we were grateful for everyone’s flexibility in rescheduling. We gathered at Mid-State Technical College's downtown campus for a day packed with learning, leadership, and eye-opening experiences! Kicking off the day, Ted Melby from Mid-State Technical College inspired our teens with a session on servant leadership, emphasizing the commitment to the growth of others. His message was both powerful and influential! Government Q&A Panel: Our teens had the unique opportunity to engage directly with local government officials, asking insightful questions and gaining a deeper understanding of public service. A special thank you to our amazing panelists: Mike Wiza – Mayor of City of Stevens Point Mike Pagel – President, Towns Association of Portage County John Pavelski – Portage County Executive Steve KunstVILLAGE OF PLOVER, Village Administrator Mary Kneebone – Alder, District 7 Marc Christianson – Alder, District 1 Team-building fun! The students participated in a get-to-know-each-other activity that was a huge success! A visit to the Portage County Sheriff's Office at Stevens Point Jail provided a real-world look into the justice system. The students saw live video streams of the jail and toured the in-call center, making for an eye-opening experience. This day was all about learning, leadership, and community engagement—and our teen leaders showed enthusiasm and curiosity every step of the way! Thank you again to Sentry, our guest speakers, panelists, and everyone who made this event possible. The future is bright with these emerging leaders! Stevens Point Area Public School District, Pacelli Catholic Schools, Almond-Bancroft School District, Tomorrow River School District, Tri-County School District.
