#FlashbackFriday - The Inland Waterways Terminal in the 1950s. This terminal jutted into the estuary at the end of Webster Street, on the site of Oakland’s first municipal wharf. Built in 1931 by the Port of Oakland, this pier and transit shed were operated under lease by the Bay Cities Transportation Company. The terminal received produce and other commodities brought in by river barge and steamer from the inland valleys, and it also brought goods back to the state’s interior.
