Jack London Square will help warm up the holidays with its “One Warm Coat” event taking place now through December 8th. Shoppers are asked to donate new or gently used coats for those in need; coat donations can be dropped off in the barrel located in front of the Jack London Square management office and will be distributed to people who need a warm coat this holiday season. Port of Oakland import volume approaches pre-pandemic level; indicators point to a healthy recovery. Total container volume rose 10% over recorded volumes during the same period in 2023. Loaded imports continue to grow for the 12th straight month. Import volume rose 11.2% in October 2024, compared to October 2023. EVERPORT TERMINAL SERVICES is deploying a zero emissions (ZE) Orange EV “HUSK-e” yard tractor for a 4-week demonstration to see how well it handles the rigors of marine terminal operations. This is the first fully electric yard tractor to be tested at the Port of Oakland’s marine terminals. Demonstrations like this are very important because they help the Port’s terminal operators pick what technology they plan to use to go fully ZE, and they allow the labor workforce better understand the ZE technologies that will be part of the terminal operations in the future. Once this demonstration ends, the HUSK-e will go to #OaklandInternationalContainerTerminal so they can test it out. #SSA #portofoakland
