Spring marks the season for planting, and the Confluence Riverfront property is right on track. Concrete planters have been set in place, and greenery awaits as the soil is readied. Meanwhile, pavers are being installed to outline the patio and enhance the water views, all in anticipation of the inaugural cruise trips scheduled for later this season.

The damp weather has unveiled the vivid colors of spring, providing a scenic backdrop for the Port. March has been quiet at the docks, as the US Army Corps of Engineers closed several locks on the Columbia and Snake rivers for annual maintenance. We are grateful for the dedication of our hardworking partners at USACE, who ensure these technological marvels operate seamlessly and ensure the ongoing vitality of our river system. The maintenance is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

General Manager Scott Corbitt of the Port of Lewiston, Commissioner Joe Anderson, and Communications Coordinator Mary Iacobelli joined with fellow members of the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association recently on Capitol Hill. They engaged with legislators and their staff to advocate for navigation, energy, economic development, and various other issues vital to the Pacific Northwest. The Port team in particular voiced support for the Lower Snake River Dams and broader Columbia-Snake River System.

Our General Manager Scott Corbitt was privileged to be part of this impactful group.

We were delighted to join with the Idaho Department of Labor to celebrate our 50 years of river commerce on the Columbia-Snake River System! Port General Manager Scott Corbitt had the privilege of presenting at “The Mighty Columbia” seminar in Portland this week. The event aimed to explore the intricate interests and applications of the river system. The audience included attorneys, engineers, conservationists, and government employees.

A major milestone for the Confluence Riverfront project has been completed! After a few days of wading through muddy conditions, construction crews poured the foundation for the cruise boat dock. Once the concrete set, the gangway was secured into place. The first lucky American Cruise Lines passengers are expected this spring!

The Port of Lewiston Commissioners bid a fond farewell to Wendy Rismon at last week's meeting. After three decades of dedicated service, the Inland 465 Manager is retiring. The Commission and staff commended Rismon for her outstanding contributions to the Port.
