We are testing Convo Communications, a new on-demand American Sign Language (ASL) translation service at the Midtown Bus Terminal, select PATH stations, and arrival centers at LaGuardia, JFK International, and Newark Liberty International airports. Convo works much like translation apps available on smartphones, but instead of translating between two spoken languages, Convo translates between sign language and spoken language. No app is required to use the service – customers can scan a QR code posted at information booths. They are then connected to a live ASL interpreter, enabling real-time communication between the customer and the employee, with assistance from the interpreter. Want to learn more about Convo? BIG NEWS: Governor Hochul, The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, and our partners at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority unveiled a $160 million plan to create faster, more frequent, and more reliable service for the Q70 LaGuardia Link bus line, which connects LaGuardia Airport with the subway in Jackson Heights and the Long Island Rail Road and subway in Woodside. “The transformation of LaGuardia Airport into a world-class destination that is recognized for its excellence is an integral part of our bold vision for a new era in New York, and that starts with much needed enhancements in transportation to and from the airport,” Governor Hochul said. “This new funding will advance several transportation projects, provide new bus lanes, reduce congestion and overcrowding, and install new traffic lights to prioritize buses into the airport." NEW: We just opened a second sensory room at Newark Liberty International Airport's award-winning Terminal A! This underwater-themed post-security space inspired by New Jersey’s coastal heritage complements the existing one pre-security, providing a peaceful refuge from what can often be an overwhelming and overstimulating environment for neurodivergent travelers. “For families like mine who have experienced firsthand the challenges of traveling with a neurodivergent loved one, this kind of supportive environment opens up new worlds,” said Port Authority Vice Chairman Jeffrey Lynford. “These sensory rooms, and the care that went into designing them, can make the difference between a stressful journey and an empowering one. They allow families to travel with greater ease, confidence, and joy, creating opportunities for connection and exploration that might have once felt out of reach.” Head to our Press Room to learn more about accessibility at our airports: https://ow.ly/8LMF50Vp4fe #NewarkAirport #Accessibility #SensoryRoom

Patrice Polite joined PATH as one of the few women assigned to the railroad’s power and signals group. After 16 years, she’s adding a new mission to her supervisor's job title. As a founding member of a new women’s employee resource group at PATH, she’s working to help the railroad find more women to apply for careers in male-dominated fields such as skilled technical and maintenance jobs. “They think that it’s all heavy lifting or big tools or the equipment is just extremely complex. And it's not, not at all,” Polite said. “Women should not be intimidated by jobs like these.” Read the article below to learn about her experience and efforts to break barriers at PATH. #WHM #Blog #PATHTrain

We just DOUBLED the electric vehicle (EV) fast charging capacity of JFK International Airport! Twenty-four new Revel chargers have been installed at the For-Hire Vehicle Hold Lot 1 West charging station, for a total of 46 now available. These additional chargers help meet growing demand for electric vehicle charging infrastructure at Port Authority facilities, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 3,720 metric tons each year. “The Port Authority and its private partners like Revel [and Con Edison] are leading the charge in building a net-zero future, and this latest expansion of two dozen more fast chargers at JFK is a major boost in that work,” said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton. “More access to electric vehicle charging equipment helps advance our sustainability goals and reaffirms our agency’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.” Head to our Press Room to learn more: https://ow.ly/OEfn50Vl2Jq #ElectricVehicle #EV #Aviation #Airport #Sustainability

#ICYMI LaGuardia is the BEST U.S. AIRPORT!! Forbes Travel Guide’s survey of 5,000 hospitality and travel experts and the guide’s most well-traveled fliers has named LaGuardia Airport the best in the nation. This award is the latest in a long list of accolades for the airport after its historic $8 billion transformation. “From the very start, our mission at LaGuardia Airport was to transform what was once the worst airport in the nation into an airport that would rival the best in the world,” said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton. “Accepting this award from Forbes Travel Guide is further proof that with our private partners, Delta Air Lines and LaGuardia Gateway Partners, we have created a new LaGuardia Airport that is no longer a national laughingstock, but something our entire region and country can be proud of.” Head to our Press Room to learn more: https://ow.ly/R5cS50Vkg5u #LaGuardia #Airport #WorstToBest #AWholeNewLGA
