Yes, you can pour water on our director of photography, Taylor Rahn, as long as he doesn't have a camera in his hands. #ironbutterflymedia

On the Alpha 5 Project - On September 28, 2023, in the early morning, the Alpha 5 Project skydivers exited the balloon at just over 38,000 ft. in an attempt to mark the highest-altitude formation HALO (high altitude, low open) jump. Upon landing, media was pulled from the skydivers and balloon, the footage was checked and the world record was validated by an observer from the Guinness World Records. While the jump lasted a matter of minutes, the preparation and dedication from the crew put together by Operator Solutions spanned thousands of hours across several years. Creative Director, Jacob Centeno, on the project, "We were one small component to the massive effort that the Alpha 5 Project was. We do not take the opportunity to be a part of a record-setting team for granted and we certainly will not forget the team of dedicated professionals we were privileged to work alongside.

On the Alpha 5 Project - About 30 hours before the world record attempt, staff members from public relations efforts on the ground came to the Poor Bear Stories crew and asked if we knew how, or, had the capability to send out a live feed of the balloon prep and launch. Several news outlets had made media requests at the last second and nobody was available to cover the launch from the ground on such short notice. A sense of urgency and desperation was felt as we would potentially be giving up millions of viewers and exposure around the globe. Creative Director, Jacob Centeno, noted, "We had to make it work. Our job may have said something else on paper but we were in a position to step up where we were needed and we were prepared to give it our best effort." Poor Bear Stories crew members Jhoel and Jacob searched every tech store in Roswell until they found and purchased the last capture card available which would enable them to broadcast one camera feed online. The setup was laughable at best, but the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of views across several news outlets around the globe would not know the difference - they were watching the Alpha 5 Project world record attempt live.

Operator Jhoel Flores claims his favorite part about working on the Alpha 5 Project, "was the unity and teamwork of everyone, from top to bottom, to get the job done." The project was not without its challenges, however. Poor Bear Stories crew was tasked with wrangling the gopros - which included installing them on the aerial vehicles and skydivers, pulling memory cards, downloading and archiving footage for viewing and editing purposes. Video Specialists, Robert Chase, felt the pressure. "There's no retakes. You're working with a live event that only happens once and takes an immense amount of resources to repeat. You can't just guess and say "You probably got it. You have! to get it." In the basket, temperatures from the burners melted a few gopros and their housings. Outside of the basket, upon descent, the gopros would experience freezing conditions and intense levels of condensation. With recommendations from the Red Bull Stratos team and help from a NASA engineer, camera/battery housings were built to withstand the extreme temperatures and conditions of the full flight, allowing our team to successfully film and deliver footage of the world record event.

Creative Director Jacob Centeno on the world record Alpha 5 Project: "Initially, Special Operations Warrior Foundation asked if we'd be interested in helping with news coverage as 10 Tampa Bay wasn't able to send out a camera crew to cover the story. I jumped at the opportunity to help raise awareness for the project as it raised awareness for the foundation. Little did we know, Operator Solutions?would end up offering Poor Bear Stories a sub-contract to cover the world record attempt in Roswell, New Mexico."?
