We’re counting down the days until El Barrio & Paramount join the West Homewood community! Paramount will bring the same eclectic sports bar aesthetic as its original location, complete with its signature tire wall, hanging lights, and license plates—elements that capture its unique spirit. With plenty of TVs throughout the space, it’s the perfect spot to watch a game while enjoying great food and drinks. Right next door, El Barrio will showcase its bold, Mexican folk aesthetic, mirroring the character of its downtown spot. The terracotta block, vibrant mural, and burnt-red soffit against a dark backdrop will reinforce the El Barrio environment With a shared arcade and a lively atmosphere, these two spots are perfect for a fun family night out or a laid-back date night!

Project Spotlight: Children's of Alabama Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit Turning a former outpatient clinic into a secure and therapeutic space for adolescent patients required thoughtful design and innovative solutions. This 11-bed unit balances safety, durability, and a calming environment to support healing. From the moment patients enter, they are greeted by warm imagery of Alabama State Parks and a flowing river pattern on the floor, creating a sense of peace. Every detail prioritizes security, with tamper-resistant fixtures, ligature-resistant design, and secured entry points to ensure a safe space for recovery. Beyond safety, the unit fosters comfort and independence. Thoughtfully designed spaces for dining, therapy, education, and recreation allow the unit to operate independently from other behavioral health programs. Custom seating nooks give patients control over their environment with individual lighting, while flexible sensory rooms with color-changing LED lights provide a space to decompress. Each patient room is outfitted with behavioral health-grade furniture, private bathrooms with soft magnetic doors, and built-in safety features for peace of mind. More than just a renovation, this project creates a supportive, healing environment for young patients when they need it most. Exciting news! We are expanding our Inpatient Behavioral Health Services with an additional 11 beds. We have always aimed to support our community's wellbeing, and this expansion allows us to broaden our scope to serve children and adolescents' mental health needs across the Southeast. The special focus on evidence-based dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and family involvement ensures we’re building a holistic environment engineered for healing and growth. Project Update: The University of Alabama Psychology Building We’re excited to share the latest look at construction progress on this transformative project! A blend of preservation and innovation, this renovation and expansion is redefining the 80-year-old structure with updated classrooms, clinical labs, a lecture hall, and more. The video showcases progress on the new addition and the preserved courtyard spaces, where history meets modern functionality. From the reimagined main entrance to the state-of-the-art interiors, every detail has been designed to enhance the student and faculty experience. Project Update: Jefferson County Medical Examiners’ Office! This new building features exterior tilt-up wall panels, which provides rapid assembly without compromising quality. By casting the concrete panels on-site and lifting them into place, tilt-up construction allows for rapid assembly without sacrificing quality. This innovative approach not only streamlines the construction timeline but also reinforces the building’s structural integrity—making it an ideal solution for this specialized facility.
