Last week, our Director of CIO Advisory Services, Kanon Cozad, kicked off the DIGITAL SCENE KC: STEAM Education networking event at Operation Breakthrough. Through its STEAM programs and its?Ignition Lab, children are being introduced to fascinating career possibilities that will help them break through the barriers of poverty and marginalization they have traditionally faced. Kanon's thoughts on the importance of liberal arts (putting the "Arts" back in STEM) and the value of data really resonated with everyone. So, let's dive into the second week of the trip! On Monday, I took another flight, this time heading to Nashville (yes, the city of music!), where the Pomerol Partners encounter would take place. This was the main purpose of my trip to the US. On the first night, we had a mix-and-mingle event on a rooftop. It was a great opportunity to break the ice with everyone. We spent Tuesday morning in a conference room, where the partners shared important updates, and we engaged in open discussions about the data market and the company itself. It was a completely transparent and insightful conversation. After work, it was time for some fun! We explored the city and visited the Country Music Hall Of Fame and Museum. Right after that, we went to an arcade bar, where we had an amazing time. Finally, we wrapped up the night at another bar, enjoying a live band playing authentic country music. On Wednesday, I returned to Chicago, where I stayed for a few more days. Following that, I took a week off to travel around the US, visiting Colorado and Utah. Yes, I finally had time to post about my last professional great experience! Last month, I had the opportunity to be in the US to meet Pomerol Partners team in person. After my arrival in Chicago, in the first week, I've been to Kansas City with Normunds Silinieks to meet our boss Fred Hefer. On Monday, after an amazing american barbecue for lunch, we had insightful conversations about data market washed down by an excellent beer. Next, we visited central Kansas, before dinner at a German restaurant. On Tuesday morning, after a proper american breakfest, we met Kanon Cozad and Mike Douglas at our hub in Kansas to present our ideas and and hear from them about their expectations. In the afternoon, I gave Fred and Normunds two gifts - shirts that represent a mix of Brazil and their personal tastes. At night, we had a superb dinner! On Wednesday, I returned to Chicago, where I stayed until the following week. I will talk about it in another post.
