Last week, Polyose Bio was invited to the Fall 2024 meeting of CEIF (Center for Environmental Sustainability through Insect Farming) in North Carolina, where the leaders of insect farming industry (Protix, EnviroFlight?, Bühler Group, entosystem, Fluker Farms, Innovafeed, Chapul Farms, Better Insect Solutions) presented their latest developments and discussed the future of industry. We also discussed how Polyose Bio can help advance and scale the insect farming industry by turning it into an engine for chemical biomanufacturing. We look forward to many fruitful partnerships with both insect farming and biomanufacturing industries to create a more sustainable and just future. #biomanufacturing, #insectfarming, #sustainability
关于我们
Polyose Bio uses the power of synthetic biology to cheaply and sustainably transform food waste into high-value chemicals. On a global level, 40% of the food that is produced goes to waste. In the U.S. alone, that amounts to 100 million tons of food waste every year, which contributes 5% of the U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. The worst part is that a large portion of this food waste goes straight to landfills, where it decomposes and releases methane, a potent greenhouse gas. At Polyose Bio, we are completely redefining what it means to upcycle food waste. We use synthetic biology to enable a first-of-its-kind pairing between insects and highly engineered microbial cell factories to dramatically reduce the cost and environmental impact of food waste processing and upcycling. Our novel process transforms raw food waste into specialty chemicals such as sugar polymers that sell for hundreds of dollars per kilogram. Not only are we using food waste as our raw material, we are also displacing very unsustainable production methods that are used to supply the $100 billion sugar polymer industry today. As a result, we can reduce the carbon footprint of sugar polymer production by 95%. And we do this all at a fraction of the cost. Support us in our mission to revolutionize biomanufacturing and keep food out of landfills!
