POLYMERA at Hello Tomorrow! Last week, POLYMERA participated in the Hello Tomorrow Global Summit, an event that brings together the most innovative deep tech startups. We had the opportunity to connect with investors, corporations, accelerators, and other startups at different stages of development, sharing experiences and exploring new collaboration opportunities. Our technology for biobased and biodegradable superabsorbents received an excellent reception from attendees, motivating us even more to continue driving high-performance sustainable solutions. PolyMera: la primera startup del programa company builder ATGen-GRIDX Cada a?o, 80 millones de toneladas de pa?ales y productos de higiene femenina terminan en vertederos. Estos productos, compuestos de materiales derivados del petróleo, no son reciclables ni biodegradables, lo que agrava la contaminación ambiental. PolyMera, la primera startup surgida dentro del programa enfocado en crear y desarrollar emprendimientos biotecnológicos con apoyo del Uruguay Innovation Hub, presentó su propuesta de valor durante el Demo Day de GRIDX ante más de 250 personas. La startup uruguaya utiliza mecanismos adaptativos de una bacteria extremófila antártica para desarrollar biopolímeros biodegradables con capacidades superabsorbentes excepcionales. Sus biomateriales, capaces de absorber 500 veces su peso en agua, se generan a temperatura ambiente y sin modificaciones químicas, mediante un proceso de producción en un solo paso con bajos requerimientos nutricionales. Esto simplifica y hace escalable su fabricación, convirtiéndolo en una alternativa viable y ecológica frente a los superabsorbentes tradicionales.
